After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

STUPID MAGIC de luxe

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hello Everybody
I have a Saeco Magic deluxe which is making me crazy. The thing has me wanting to pick it up and throw it in the bin!
Can anybody help me? I have taken in in for a service 2 weeks ago, and this morning it decided that it is not going to work. The "dregs container indicator light" is flashing. And i have fitted the dregs drawer and drip tray properly. I have spend the last hour trying everything I thought could help, with no luck. Can anyone please help me?
Thanks

  • i presume the dregs container is just the drip tray seeing as there is an electronic indicator for when this is full where is the sensor? do you have to put it back in the drip tray after you empty it? check to see if the connections are good, and if the wires are still intact... otherwise the sensor could be wet or dirty causing it to give false readings...
  • thanks Anthology, :) I've had a look, and it is still not working. Ive cleaned the entire machine with no luck :( any other ideas? Ive come to a point where I think I should simply start over and buy a new machine!!!
  • can you describe the sensor setup you can see? i still think this is probably where the fault lies... does the machine not operate with a full drip tray?
  • It has a drip tray and a separate drawer. It operates when both are pretty dirty and full. Both need to be in place for the thing to work. The sensor for the drawer is just a lever that gets pushed in when u push the drawer in, this appears to be working fine. I know ive put both the drawer and the tray in place properly because they make this clicking noise when they slide in place. So im not sure what the next step would be? :)
  • take the drawer out and click the switch, wiggle it and stuff and see if the light goes on/off do the same for the drip tray if that has a switch too apart from that i'm not sure what you can do you may have to get it serviced again, just crack it at the ppl who did it last time, because they didn't properly service it or something and maybe they'll re service it for free
  • ive given that a go as well with no luck. :( thanks for the help :) ill keep u updated on my progress! if all else fails i will be giving the thing away if any one is interested. :)
  • does it come with a ECM Giotto premium, and a mazzer mini?
  • ah yeah and $2000 cash.... ;)
  • Hi Nandi I also have one of those machines and the same thing happened to mine about 2 weeks after I got it. I rang the company and had to take it in for servicing and they fixed it under warranty. It has worked ever since without any problems :) So, maybe try calling them and get them to fix it for you. How long have you had the machine? Fi
  • Hi fi, Ive had mine for 14 months. My warranty ran out 2 months ago, Just before it ran out this happened and i took it in and had it fixed... I got it back and the water thing broke so i took it in and got it back 2 weeks ago, its broken again! Do you think the repairs they did under warranty would have a garantee on them? As this is the same problem again, only this time its not under warranty...
  • generally most service centres be they for small appliences or anything really will fix something out of warranty if they didn't do it right within warranty in the first place.  it's like if your electricity stops working and you get an electrician to come in and fix it, you pay them and it still doesn't work, you woldn't pay them again to do the job properly. saeco pay the service centres for their repair work under warranty so it's no different really.  just call and ask them...
  • Hello Nandi, you will find that Saeco generally follows their new machine warranty policy to the letter, however each separate repair is usually guaranteed for 3 months...so it sounds as though you should be able to just slip it in for the recurring problem that happened just before new warranty ran out, and have it seen to under its "own warranty"...so to speak. If you have already jiggled the tiny lever in the slot in the body that activates the alarm circuit for the dregs container when it is moved in and out, and had no success, then I'm afraid you can only take it up with them, and I would urge you to do so very promptly anytime something goes wrong, because I am afraid they will grant you very little if any leeway.   Regardz, FC.
