After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Maintenance question: What's the difference between these two group seals?

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Having a look on CoffeeParts, I was thinking about ensuring I had a spare group seal in the house. They've got two:

One is a Group Head Seal (o-ring) and the other is a Group Head Seal (conical). Dimensions appear to be the same.

What's the difference?

  • FWIW Kelsey, I've got an unused conical Bezzera seal sitting on my desk, was sent to me in error by Bezzera, QLD and they didn't want it back. Your welcome to it for the cost of postage, PM me if your interested. :)
  • A conical seal is for commercial machines and may not suit your machine BZ07 But I could be wrong KK
  • @DryBean - Thanks DB, I'll do just that. @KK - It's in the BZ07 section of coffeeparts, so I was curious. My current seal is pretty thick - the PF has never once gotten as far as locking in straight!

Have you checked with Chris at Barazi ? I remember on my BZ40 that they had both hard and soft compound seals Hard for on all day commercial machines and  soft for the home users KK
  • No, I probably should. I don't like bothering Chris with the small stuff tho. Just thought I'd try something from somewhere different.

Why not?  That's his business!  Give him a call or email him, and I'm sure he could post you one out in an envelope! :)
  • I'm sure Chris would be fine with it, he's extremely good with his customers. I'm just less inclined to hassle him when we don't have your usual retail relationship.

FYI I was quoted $16.50 to post out a $12 group seal from him. Kind of not worth it for the shipping. Good price to pickup though.
  • If you don't want to hassle Chris then talk to Beck KK
