After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Gaggia Classic drips too much water!!! Anybody?

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hello coffee lovers.

I have a gaggia classic and it is tip top, however when i first purchased it, it driped out water from the head nice and slowly (This is normal and what it is supposed to do), But recently it has been spraying out water from every angle and sprays everywhere on the bench (this is without the handle on), and it is just too much water, and because of this when making an espresso there is no crema. I have scrubbed underneath to make sure that the hundreds of little holes are not blocked (the little holes are not blocked at all).

Does this happen to anyone else and should it get serviced?
Can I have your thoughts?

Thanks

  • are you saying if you run water through the head, without the pf attached it sprays water out... because this is pretty normal as far as i know.  if its spraying water out wher the pf locks in, this probably means, a) you have too much coffee in the basket, b) you have grounds between the pf and the seal, or c) your seal is wearing out, and not working as well any more...

have you cleaned inside the shower head ? ie: removed it.
  • It sprays out when i have no handle on the machine, it has nothing to do with the coffee. I Have taken the shower head off and scrubbed it heaps of times. still no help.
  • hmmm ... confusing. I'd go for the service option. Or FC might chime in - he knows stuff.
  • actually, i think FC's away for a week or so; will see if the good folk at Gaggia can take a look at this... -A
  • I thought it was quiet around here! Hey, hang on ... FC's away, the site gets hacked ... FC must be the hacker!
  • Hi porko - can you advise whether you've been contacted by anyone from Gaggia - we let them know there were some issues, so i would be interested to know if anyone from their service dept contacts you, and if so, what sort of solution they provide. -A
