After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
hello to all.
i have joined up here to ask a question for some elderly neighbours of mine.
for decades they have drunk percolated coffee and been quite happy.
however
recently, they came around here for coffee and we served them up a couple of lattes from our san marino compact and now they are permanently jonesing for PROPER espresso coffee with PROPER steamed milk!
they do not want to buy a commercial machine and they do not want to spend hundreds upon hundreds of dollars either.
they drink a cup each in the morning and that is it.
this machine is not going to be flogged to death.
also, they do not have hysterically high coffee standards.....after decades of perc, they are going to die of joy with espresso anyway.
they are eyeballing a Breville BarVista (it is right in their price range and they like the look of it....aesthetics are everything, right?) and they asked me what *i* thought of it.
tricky.
just because i can wring a decent cup of coffee out of a compact, doesn't make me the barista queen, you know what i am saying?
plus, i gather it has not been on the market very long.
so, here i am, in what appears to be a positive nest of experts.
does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the BarVista and would they be prepared to share?
i would be very grateful and the oldies will be most appreciative also.
many thanks
patti.
