After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Finca Alaska 600gr in KKTO - Run hard on the full 235C after a 5 min drying cycle. Pulled just as a few puffs of smoke signalled second crack was imminent, and cooled in 25s to ambient. - Result: Black tea, bergamot, grapefruit. Great as a black coffee, needs maybe a darker roast for a single origin milk drink, though I think it'll benefit from blending if in milk.
  • Todays Easter roast on the KKTO is 600 grams of Brazil Pedra Redonda ( Catuai pulped natural ) KK
  • My easter roast was 300gm Java Kallistat and 300gm PNG as a blend.  Not sure if that's going to work, but they look my fancy! ;) Roasted to just on 2nd Crack (I heard a single snap as I pulled them out) at 18 minutes.
  • 300g of PNG Waghi on the Behmor pulled just before 2nd Crack, I've always let this hit a little into 2nd before so seeing what it's like just before!

Haha, I've had a little bit stashed away as a cheer me up.  I loved the bean, it was awesome.
  • The Kalistat? I was also wondering!

This CS10 roast is our preferred style and will be enjoyed . I have yet to test my Vincenti Paye but am drinking a lighter CS8-9 compliments of Ministry Grounds.
  • Been a busy week, I have knocked over the following roasts: 1. Finca El Injerto - Capadocia Caracol -  resting at the moment (5/4) and for me and only precious me ;) 2. Indonesia Sulawesi Toraja - Kalosi  - drinking this at the moment (30/3) and pours like syrup. 3. Yemen Mocha Sanaani - also resting... Its a YBI wannabe  :( 4. Guatemala La Esperanza - Honey Processed  - roasted this for a bloke at work (5/4). Reading the positive notes on Brazil Pedra Redonda, I reckon this the next cap of the rank or do I crack the Rwandan Cup of Excellence Lot 7 Buf Remera open?  Decisions Decisons.... Life is so tough hey! Jonty

I just roasted the same bean a couple days ago, I have no Idea what it is or why I ordered it? Should be ready in about a week, will see I guess...
  • 300g of Brazil Yellow Bourbon in the Behmor
  • Its raining and its quite heavy rain at that Time for two roasts on the KKTO Roast one - 700 grams of Wahana Naturals to first snaps of second crack Roast two a 900 gr blend ( easier to roast larger amounts following another roast on the KKTO ) 500 grams of Columbian Andes Santa Rita ( alas the last of it ) 400 grams of Zimbabwe AB FAQ Let the taste buds be tempted KK
  • I'm back to SOs for a while. 300g of Ghimbi 200g of Tanzanian TEC - first time I've done this in the Behmor, hope it works it's not a bean I like to waste, one of my favourites :)
  • This weekend has seen me do three roasts: 1. 350g Yemen Mocca from Bean Green - the tasting from last week made me do another batch! 2. I did 2 by 305g batches of Sumantran Wahana Estate back to back for the 10+ day rest period - thanks KK I am organized this time! Jonty
  • Was going to roast some musasa but couldn't find it - since tracked it down. Instead a small batch of finca Santa Clara. Usual medium roast, pulled about five degrees before second crack. Gotta love us siphon drinking hipsters eh?
  • Roasted another couple batches today  - one PNG highlands AA for espresso and one decaf, by special request as daughter wanted a coffee at 11:30 at night. Decaf went straight out the roaster and into the grinder.  Who drinks a cappucino at 11:30 at night? Well now I know. As I was making coffee anyway, pulled a short black of the decaf and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Fizzy, but not undrinkable.
  • This morning I roasted on the KKTO 2 X 600 grams of El Salvador Finca Alaska One batch for me One batch for Derrilex KK
  • Snap. I roasted a smaller batch (220g) of the same beans yesterday. Pulled at rolling first crack, around 14 min, lovely  cinnamon colour.  Will rest another couple days.
  • Managed to run a quick roast today during a 20 min break to fix broken  dryer (multi-tasking again). Nothing fancy, 200gram Brazil dulce, 30gram Indian elk Hill Arabica. 11:40 to first crack, pulled 16:00 just prior to rolling second. Espresso roast Why those beans? They came to hand. Was going to do single origin, then I thought, why not have both?
  • Three roasts tonight: 1. Tanzania Clouds of August, 325g 1IbP2B on the Behmor 2. Rwandan:Kuda Mas, 50:50 blend, 310g 3.  Sulawesi Toraja, 310g. I'll roast the last of ome Indian Elephant Hills over the weekend....
  • Beans are in the Koffee Kosmo roaster as I post One bean variety that slipped by me is 700 grams of the Guatemala Finca Santa Clara  First time I have roasted this one so expectations are high  A couple of shots for the home roasting enthusiasts Attachment not found.Attachment not found.
  • Busy three days in my roaster. Monday. 500 grm Panama Los Lajeans 223 deg 14min CS8-9.  Tuesday 650 grm Guatamala Finca El Enjerto  Capadosia Caracol. 226deg 15min CS8-9. Rawandan Buf Remera COE lot7 227 deg 15min CS9 Wednesday  625 grm Thailand ChiangMai 224Deg  14min CS8-9      bcspark
  • Okay, long time no contribute: Friday night past: 500g Rwandan Buf Remera (smells great) Today: my Mocha Java take 500g 50/50 Ethiopian Celba/Sumatran Blue Buttocks I love the Celba and am finishing off a 500g roast three weeks post.  At 93 on my machine the chocolate balances the fruit and it tastes heavenly.
  • 450g Col Pitalito for Jonty
  • on 1368671650:
    450g Col Pitalito for Jonty
    That's a lovely looking roast @D KK
  • Improved hybrid going well KK. That was 8.30 to 1st C, a few burps and down to 200 for 1 minute then full whack until 2nd @ 12.20, pulled at 12.30
  • Nearly ran out of beans, so I threw in 500gm of Indo Blue Batak, hit FC at 11mins, and pulled at 16mins just on SC. :)  Turned out lovely, but I might have to sample a bit sooner than normal.
  • I find when I need to use sooner I just stir the grounds a bit more to help let the gas out seems to work anyway. I have some of that Indo Blue, I hear it is supposed to be pretty good if you can get it roasted right
