After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

BMW and coffee?

Hi guys - picked up an entry card for a chance to win a BMW 1 Series in my local cafe today - something to do with what they're calling the Coffee Connoisseurs' Choice.

Has anyone seen anything about this competition, or evidence of how well it is doing?

  • Admin Have a look at John's thread '3:00 and Bar open' or something similar. It is a very questionably looking competition. By the way, who won the 'guess what the uptight, cynical squirrel said' competition? P
  • Thanks Patrick - it's frightening what you guys get up to when Admin's away...it's an excellent thread (FYI to those who haven't seen it - look under 'Fun Stuff'). Would be interested from any cafe-owners as to how the promotion seems to be going... Cheers -A PS you don't get the coffee beans until you give the full dialogue, Patrick!
  • Admin Now that you are advertising the comp. maybe ask the company in question for a few of their zillions of advertising bucks. JD ???
  • JD thanks for the thought, I wish...anyway checked out the details on their web link and it's not all it's cracked up to be.   The impression you get is that you could win a BMW, but in fact it's looks like it's a chance to win one of 20 Sunbeam Cafe Crema espresso machines or 200 BMW espresso cup & saucer sets...whoopee! -A :)
  • Admin Did you say beema creema. I did not see any whooppees on the prize list. Think I will go back to the Bar is open thread. JD
  • Not that I am into sun beemas. But does anybody have an update on this gig?????? JD
  • I registered with BMW and got an invite to the BMW place in the city to see the new series of BMW's and to be taught about coffee making by some one. it's all just a sales ploy for BMW and nothing to do with coffee. The modle rande they are trying to get the "latte drinkers" set to buy the BMWs. Tricky arn't they. For your interest JD, Chad the canadian guy was doing the demo
  • Brian Bottom line, did you buy the car????? JD PS How was the coffee?
  • John    if I had the money to buy one, why would I be still working as hard as I do? No I didn't try the coffee. Didn't turn me on at the time. I went down to watch the coffee makers in action. Take it easy JD See you next time in Sydney unless you come over to Adelaide. By the way for any of you that do come over to Adelaide, and visit my cafe please make yourselves known to me Regards Brian
  • Hey Brian How's it hanging? Was Paul Basset not there at the BMW gig? I know he has a gig going with them.. You be good now Emma Markland Webster x
  • There was also a beema gig at the rocks over the weekend alongside a wine festival. Unfortunately for Jo Public you had to have an invite from the beema clan to sample the coffee. So went across to the Lazumba van and had some great coffee courtesy of Deaton. JD
  • hello to all the above respondents.. hope you are all doing well! bit of a late reply... but personally i think is great that a large compnay like BMW (Im a big fan (any freebies my way please! ;) ) are getting people involved in coffee... Although i didn't get to see any of them i think brisbane got the best show.. i heard great reports about Emily, Simon and shelly... well done guys...
