After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

7yo caught by police driving a car

His dad was also in the car but passed out drunk

police said.

I heard this on the news, it happened on the Gold coast.

    Quite possibly an irresponsible drunkard, like his dad. Alternatively, the kid has enough sense to think that no way he will be like his father.

    Maybe the kid got the dad drunk so he could try driving? Maybe the  irresponsible mum sent the kid to pick up  dad from the pub? Without knowing circumstances, difficult to make a judgement and as a minor involved, likely we will never know details due to  privacy issues. Speculation is fun though. I am not convinced a seven  year old being allowed to drive is a sign he/she has been denied his/her childhood.  Not to say it isn't possible,  but not a clear fact.

    Based on news reports - It was a Lismore man on holiday at the Gold Coast The 7 yo son was driving a hire car while the adult man was drunk and not responsive as thebpassenger when they were caught by police KK

    I bough my first car at age 11 sat on a thick phone book and drove it home from my paper route. I was too short to reach the pedals so my little brother was laying on the floor working them according to my commands. we did it somehow! amazing what young boys can do.

    .... Yes, especially with a total incomprehension of what the 'consequences' might be.... Clearly there were two very young boys in that GC joy riding car..... I worked for a while with a fellow that would have seen 'no problem whatsoever' with that Gold Coast Jaunt. In fact I watched closely to see whether it was him or not... Nah, I'd say he was the one who wasn't caught.....
