After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Maitland (NSW) Aroma? Fest
I spent about2+ hours at the Maitland Coffee Aroma Fest today.
Don't know how or why I stayed that long!
Oh, that's right, my partner met up with some friends and had a chat. That would have consumed quite a bit of time. :D
Needless to say, it would have to be the most disappointing Aroma Fest ever, as I returned with 3 bottles of wine, a bar of my favourite ginger rocky road, having drank just ONE coffee from an interesting new roaster from Newcastle. (It was a good coffee though :thumb:)
This year is presented more like a major event sponsor's (large franchised store) controlled demos for their home machines, promoting: "How to make cafe-style coffee at home with a DeLonghi or Sunbeam". ::)
I only noticed two stalls that actually displayed/sold beans
Previous festivals I have visited on both days. I know I can find better things and coffee (on the Strega) to experience tomorrow so I'll not be going again.
Anyone else from the area happen to go
Maitland Council supposedly have plans to "Melbournise" the main street of Maitland with little coffee shops and cafes up side streets etc.
IMHO, this year's Aroma Fest unfortunately falls well short of increasing the knowledge of coffee and its culture in the Hunter and promoting their cause.
Just my ten cents worth folks. :pan
