After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Design of Coupling to use a Heat Gun on A KKTO Roaster

I am posting this design that utilizes the Glass section of a Turbo Oven so a Heat Gun can be used

Its a Coupling system that will accept a heat gun as a heat source
Also utilizes a turbo air director called a Tornado

Questions are welcome

  • Gee that's clever!  Kudos KK!
  • how do you ensure a suitable change of air to exhaust moisture and smoke (and avoid overloading the heat gun)? that looks like a closed environment  and only way for air to leave would  be due to higher internal pressure forcing air out around the edge of the lid. Obviously there must be some exchange of air, or the heatgun would just burn out, just wondering if I missed something.
  • One can leave a gap in the seal And one can also make provision for a small slide gate This design is for a DIY application KK

I have a 3/4 inch gap in my seal which is great for blowing out the chaff.  I imagine this would be even more effective with a heat gun!
  • After viewing member Gulumay's mod It's also a very good option on the fly - utilising the existing turbo ovens heat unit fixtures And I'm sure that he will agree and he may change to a more solid metal top. It would be more suitable I will repost his photos as they are relevant to this thread Attachment not found.Attachment not found.Attachment not found.

I reckon I will just cut a flat circle of sheet metal and fix it to the top of the stripped out TO in place of the bodgy AlFoil.
  • A question to galumay .I have just received my Steinel hg2300e gun . In comparison to my 2310 led I find the air supply to be vastly stronger could be 10 plus times or more. Have you some parameters for air flow which could give me some guidance before I commit to ruining my first roast . Thank you bcspark
  • I started with the airflow backed off a bit, but now i run it flat out with less on the heat slider. Really all I did was use a template of the profile i was getting with the TO, and then matched the Steinel to it.
  • Thanks for the info .Makes sense and will be a great help .You have not blown beans out of the roaster yet . I am expecting more control and shorter roast times . Thanks again bcspark
