After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

How to check Rancilio machines are under warranty?

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Hi,

I'm brand new to this forum, and have just purchased a newish Rancilio Silvia and Rocky.

I've been told by the seller that there's 12 months still on the warranty, but I'd like to confirm this.

What should I do?

Thanks. I look forward to learning a lot...  :coffee2:

Normally it's one year + an option to upgrade to 2 years for extra dollars ( sometimes called extended warranty ) However your best course of action is to get it all in writing KK
  • Or better, get the receipt.  You could also contact the company that the machine was purchased from and give them the serial number.  It's usually under the drip tray and under the machine itself.
  • Warranties are funny things. Extended 'warranties' are usually prepaid service contracts rather than warranties and have various exclusions.  Commercial equipment warranties may not be transferable. Normally, an espresso machine would be expected to last several years and Australian consumer law would  give you over a year for any manufacturing defects. A machine used in acafe, however, is a different matter and it would be an interesting discussion  to try and get anything fixed if the service agent declared it to be outside warranty. As lacehim says, an original sales receipt would be very useful. Either the original seller, or the importer should be able to check the machines age from the serial number and confirm current warranty status. You are very wise to  try and sort this out before any problems occur. It will avoid a lot of stress  if something does break
  • Thanks for the feedback everyone. I appreciate it.
