After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Yes, what we are being told is that there is a redistribution of "wealth" from older established business to new business, at a time when retail and food industry are already struggling under the burden of increased competition as well as rapidly falling prices while the cost of doing business soars. ie decreased margins. Which is what many already know.... The 20 y old front bloke is obviously very capable but could hardly do all of that without also having a "backer", so possibly a little truth stretching going on there ? The second bloke mentioned is open about having a backer. And of course part and parcel with the redistribution of wealth is the reinvention of the market to suit the new players the easiest example of which, is that this topic is placed in the "coffee industry" news section of the forum. Cafes have been reinvented to be part of coffee industry instead of retail food industry, where baristas are the new coffee experts that dictate to everyone else what is good or not about coffee and how to do it. While all the talk is about *the coffee*, its not really about the coffee, its about "the marketed package" and its presentation, and may the best marketers win
Even our local Woolworths has just opened an "Espresso bar" just inside the entrance doors. Complete with a trendy barista and muffin display ! ??? So , can we expect this to spread to all wooly's stores ::)
