Hi everyone,
Sadly to fund my eventual purchase of a powered wheelchair, stuff has to go. As such, up for sale is my VBM Domobar Super Leva E61 HX machine. Bought from Di Bartoli and serviced by Renzo from Di Bartoli, Sean Alcorn (ex. Espresso Company Australia, the importers & AASCA Judge) and myself (AASCA judge, ex-coffee machine retailer), it has been fed on a diet of filtered water and seen only the finest arabica coffee beans. It was briefly my office machine for about 6 months, where it did about 250g/week, but for the last year and a half has been sitting at home and alternating duties with a Bezzera Domus Galatea (also for sale).
This is the version with the more understated
black wraparound body panel and silver front and top panels. It has small scratches on the cup warming tray from normal 'couples drinking coffee' use.
It has been regularly backflushed with both Caffeto EVO ('green powder') and plain water backfushes, and will be given a full seal change before sale - essentially I will service it so you know you're good to go for a year.
Features
True Faema E61 grouphead. In the early 1970's Vibiemme became the offspring of Faema and they co-owned the patent to the Faema E61 grouphead. This means you get all the advantages of the tried and trusted design copied by nearly every manufacturer as soon as the patent ran out.
Larger 2.7 litre boiler. A massive 2.7 litre boiler is used in the Domobar Super. The larger boiler not only adds to the temperature stability of the grouphead, but also offers a greater amount of steaming capacity. To support this large boiler, Vibiemme has added a support bracket rather than just using the pipes to hold it on like other machines. The boiler pressure is regulated by a commercial pressure stat with system pressure gauge.
Commercially specified pressure stat - This really does have a 'semi-commercial pressurestat', although that means less than it used to! Looking around the components, most of them are SIRAI or ULKA and this domestic espresso machine pressure stat has a reputed accuracy of 0.035 degrees C. Whether it's that fantastic, I don't know, but it is amazingly temperature stable.
Low Level Water Auto Cutofff A microswitch under the water reservoir has been installed by Vibiemme. As the machine water tank empties, the microswitch pressure is reduced. At a low level, the water pump and heating element is automatically cut off, stop damage to the heating element. The machine will automatically cut off until the reservior is topped up with water, and then turn the heating element back on again.
Adjustable Pump Pressure with by-pass valve and system pressure gauge. You can remove the top cover and use a flat head screwdriver to increase or reduce boiler pressure, in order to adjust your machine to the desired temperature. This is for advanced users (or ones who make a note of where the screw started and how far they turned it) only.
Thermal Overload Protection - all Vibiemmes are equiped with a thermal protector which, if necessary, will cut off power to prevent the pump from burning. Also, the ULKA Vibrating pump has been repositioned to minimize the vibrating noise.
Two pressure gauges Most machines only have one boiler pressure gauge. The Vibiemme Domobar Super has a second gauge which provides the brew pressure reading while pulling a shot. This can be helpful when fine-tuning your shot, however like all italian-installed gauges it may come with a slight offset compared with a SCACE'd measurement.
Large drip tray The VBM Domobar Super has a cavernous drip tray. The rough edges out of the factory have been sanded back (on the underside of the tray) so it is no longer a cutting hazard.

This machine is located in Sydney and local pickup is preferred. It can be shipped at the buyer's risk (i.e. seller owns it from the moment it leaves my house). It has been modified with extra-large easy-turn taps, however the original small triangular black plastic tap fittings come with the machine.
I'm happy to throw in 1-2 training sessions on the machine so the user can pair it with his/her grinder and understand the basics of Mane (Hand), Macinazione (Grind), Miscela (Dose) and Macchina (Machine) if you don't already.
If needed, I can throw in a set of latte glasses and a basic tamper, plus some backflush detergent, a group head cleaning brush etc. It comes with the full box contents (single+double baskets + portafilters).
The currently available Domobar Super RRP's for $2,895, so I'm looking for offers around
$1,895
.All offers will be considered, except from commercial resellers.
Pictures to follow - I'll see if I can take a shot video also.
