After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Sowden Softbrew. how to make a simple cup of coffee

  • oh looks good and quick and easy - have to say im a big fan of no scales and manually dosing by volume when it comes to pour overs - so it appeals to me!
  • I have to agree. It does look quick and easy to use. Would also be perfect for the office/work scenario. Seems to be a bit cleaner and more user friendly than the humble plunger. I would not mind getting one.

Pretty much everything is cleaner than a plunger.  That's probably the biggest drawback.

I like a Turkish  grind, dose to taste; pour over water just off the boil and then a quick stir...  Wait a short while and the mud has settled and you can drink and enjoy.... I tend to wait until the cup has cooled to a temp that I am happy with... Not technical, no extra tools or bits and pieces and you can have it any where...

Think there has been a thread or two on that before. Sometimes known as cowboy coffee.
  • One key thing makes me doubtful about the quality of this coffe brew... .. haw can he be so enthusiastic about any coffee brewed from bagged  pre ground coffee ?? ??? He didnt even mention if this was a coarse grind, espresso, or "turkish style",  or if the water should be at an "optimum" temperature ( as for a pour-over) Anything can look clean and simple if you leave out half the process.
