For Sale: Bezzera BZ07 DE with factory PID

I'll get pics up shortly, but I've decided that finances dictate not needing two expensive espresso machines in the same house.

It's the volumetric DE model, and like many in the Bezzera line it has the electrically heated group - a feature I found allowed me to brew great espresso with ease. Ask Lacehim!

It also comes with the factory PID, allowing for great control over the temp - I used it regularly to adjust for different roasts.

It's in very good condition, the usual drip-and-cup tray scratches. The PID LED also has some segments that have lost their full brightness, but it's always clear what the temp should be.

It's just been serviced by bezzera.

Looking for $1500 ONO.

Pick up Caloundra or I can bring to Brisbane northside if necessary.

  • Wow... BARGAIN!! This is a great machine for somebody wanting a pointy-end machine at mid-range prices and in 'as new' condition! Good luck with the sale K... Someone is getting a great deal!

  • Nice! Small foot-print too!  Marks wood is a great feature, I'd that included?
  • Sure is! I've got the original taps around here somewhere as well. They'll come with it if I can find them! Also, if the purchaser is new to coffee and fairly local to the Sunshine Coast or Brisbane northside, I'm more than happy to spend a couple of hours training them up, beans provided.
  • Having just purchased a house I am in a similar funding situation, so will just have to drool and dream.
  • ??? what !...you didnt factor a coffee upgrade into the loan !   Priorities  man...priorities. !
  • Bump - open to offers now. For those watching eBay buyer fell through - would like to see this to its new home.
  • What???  We're they crazy??  With the final bid sold as low as that who wouldn't go through with it.  They must be crazy!!  Get a great machine folks... Quick....
  • I'll cancel the eBay auction if it doesn't look like it's going to go for a decent price. I was very silly to schedule it to finish at 2.45 on a Thursday. Haven't made that mistake this time.
  • A-ha!  I did wonder.  :thumb:
  • Damn, that guy must be an idiot. Hopefully you get more for the sale this time around. I tried to persuade Mrs Egg, but I got a big fat no. Doesn't help that she is pregnant and (currrently) can't stand the smell of coffee.
  • For your lovely wife, I shall include a bag of my a special decaf roast! ;)
  • Hello, I have a question regarding temperature setting.  Do you normally just have espresso or do you have milk drinks as well. Just wondering how changing the temperature affects steaming performance. Also, as the group is heated separately, how accurate is the pid temperature from boiler through the group and ultimately result in the cup? Hope I am not asking too many or obvious questions. Many thanks for your time and assistance. Kind regards, Pete
  • Hi Pete, no problem at all. When it's just my wife and I, it's an even mix between espresso and big milky lattes (usually delivered in a cap cup!). With our regular guests it's mostly milk with a few long blacks. Lowering the temp decreases the amount of steam available, however you can texture the milk for a capp in about the same time as it takes to run the espresso shot. Recovery time is pretty good. It was never a major hassle to make plenty of coffees for guests. The grinder was the slowdown more than anything. Typically I'd be stretching around 200-220ml of milk and never felt underpowered. 500ml could feel a bit slower, but nothing in this size could do better! :) I wouldn't want to run a busy cafe on it, for example! I rarely took the temp below 89, except for a couple of beans that seemed to warrant it. Most of the time the PID sat on 91 or 92. It would sometimes take a bit of experimentation to find the sweet spot for any given bean. As to accuracy.... oh man, that's such a huge topic. Basically I don't think that you could rely on any PID to accurately give you an absolute number in terms of temperature. What you can rely on is that it is 100% repeatable shot after shot given repeatable conditions - i.e. if the bean, grind, dose, tamp and barista remain the same you'll get the same result in the cup without fail every time. To give you an example, we had a power outage which caused a problem with the BZ - it powered on as per normal: pump filled the boiler, sounds of metal expanding, PID getting higher numbers etc etc. I pulled an espresso shot at the appropriate time and vaguely noted that it was slightly cooler than I expected, but not radically so. It was only when I went to make my wife's latte to find zero steam and no water in the hot water tap that I realised that the boiler wasn't heating at all - the heated group had brewed the espresso enough to provide a convincing, if somewhat cool, espresso shot. I don't mind saying I was pretty impressed! It convinced me that the group was definitely doing what it said on the box - keeping the temp consistent through the brewing process. It's been such a good machine, I didn't want to sell it. I've had it down in my office so I could have a properly caffeinated man-cave, but I just can't justify holding onto it given the big lever sitting at the top of the back steps!
  • OK guys, I'm moving house in two days time and will entertain offers that might otherwise seem a little silly. Not truly ridiculous offers, but fairly on the silly side. Here's the catch tho - it needs to be out of my house by tomorrow night to be worth entertaining the mildly ludicrous offers that will now surely roll in. I'd rather sell it than move it!
  • Not quite that silly, Lacehim :)

Worth a try ... hmm? .. should I offer $800 or $500. Let's see how desperate this d00d is to sell? I'll go $500 .. you never know, I might save myself $300 and get the bargain of the Century?
  • $1000 and it's yours - needs to go today. Hell I'll even throw in the rocky for that price.

Holy cow !..that is a hell of a steal. ??? If i wasnt moving also this week,..and didnt have too many espresso machines(and grinders) already.. ..i would be all over that. come on guys, someone help the guy out of a fix.. for this price  you could buy and resell on Ebay and make a tidy dolla.

    $500
Lacehim was my best negotiator when I bought my  S24
  • Didn't do quite so well this time. ;)
  • $900 without the Rocky today only. If it's here when the last truck leaves at 5pm I'll hang onto it a while longer.

Lacehim to wait until 5pm .. then offer $550
  • Nope - after 5 it goes to a friend for long term loan
  • I had a buyer lined up at $800 before, he bought something else when you said no.
  • And if it doesn't leave my home tonight it's going to a friend who'll make use of it and thence to Mark for a PID fix, after which it'll go back up to a higher price.
  • That's what I thought, for !K in the used market you have a lot to choose from even E61s
  • Superficially perhaps, but it's NOT an E61 and in my opinion is a class-beater with a featureset that makes my price a steal. Oh, and remind me next time any of you jokers feel like selling something to publicly talk down the price of it. [emoji106]
