After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
A batch of market bought dry process Harrar. Since the lever is out of action, I've been drinking with the Aeropress and sometimes a pour over with a V60. All nice and sweet with berry notes in the flavour.
Today I just finished roasting on the KKTO roaster 1 kg of Guatemala Arabica Antigua Purchased because it's taste description is chocolaty :thumb:
Guatemala Antigua Coffee One of the finest Guatemala coffees is Guatemala Antigua, which is distinguished for its complex flavor and hint of cocoa. Antigua is known to exhibit the typical Guatemalan coffee qualities which include a full body (heavier than the typical Central American coffee) and spicy flavor that is often very rich, even velvety. An ideal coffee-growing soil and climate is found in the Antigua region, a valley surrounded by three volcanoes.
Today I just finished roasting on the KKTO roaster A nice early morning toast with the birds chirping A repeat of the last roast 1 kg of Guatemala Arabica Antigua This time however they were roasted a little lighter to the cusp of second crack KK
Roasting on the KKTO today 1 kg of Sumatra Kuda Mass Ugly different sized misshapen and damaged looking beans. Not sure if it's due to being organic grown ? Roasted to the cusp of second crack Surprisingly even roast given the state of the raw beans :thumb: KK
Mild sunny day for roasting yesterday. 500gm roasted each of Brazilian monte allegro in the KKTO 250gm colombian supremo decaf Rwandan inzovu co op Colombian hacienda Costa rica la pala Indian elk robusta in the twin corettos. Those great beans come from Bean Green.
Thanks Brett [emoji5] Considering it,s free freight for beans over $75, it is great value from western australia where freight costs more compared to other parts of oz.
This is my current corretto setup. Works great, but setting up and cleaning afterwards is a nightmare. :tearhair: Sulawesi My normal roast batch is 350g. But I'm starting to roast for other friend, so trying to bump up to get 2 x 250g roasted in a session. Did 620g Sulawesi. Ended up over & under roasted, with first crack happening as low as 195 stretching towards 210 degree. :P So 2x250g is not possible. Ethiopian Gambella Lesson learnt and for the next batch I reduced the batch to 500g Ethiopian Gambella. Result looked ok, though the sundried beans aren't the prettiest. Look forward to tasting them and that means another 7 days of waiting. =/
This is a quick but terrible photo as I think the ugly Sumatrans in the blend are not photographic models Looks much better live Attachment not found.
Looks great KK. My roasts of the sumatrans have also looked mottley. Just as well since they are at their best at the start of second crack. Great body as espresso.[emoji6]
