After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Steam Tip O Ring

So my Bezzera steam tip o ring had perished over time, and I needed a new one. Not content with the pricing for a genuine one, I got talking with fellow member derrilex, and after some deliberation, decided to track them down myself.

In the parts manual, it is listed as OR GASKET D6,4X1.9 NBR70 (that is 6.4mm Internal diameter, 1.9mm thick, and Nitrile Rubber).

I found this one on RS Components http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/seals-o-rings/0689619/ - only catch is, you have to buy 50 of them....for a whopping price of $5.20inc GST including overnight delivery (ordered Tuesday night, got here Thursday).

It is a 1/4" (6.35mm) and 1.59mm thick. Close enough, I thought. So far, so good, no leaks, fits perfectly :)

    A good result RM  :thumb: I have broken 2 O rings as well and currently have just aplied thread tape until I get new O rings KK

    I have just been advised by fellow members that on their machines, the o ring sits flush, inside the tube. Mine didn't come like that (I've checked photos from the day I bought it that I took) and looking on the web, some seem to be showing, others don't. Can anyone else take a photo of your...ahem....bellend and post it here if it has the rubber showing?     My bellend with new oring. These are 7 mm ID and 1 mm section so 9 mm OD. They fit nicely but just not quite enough crush results in a tiny  leak. I reckon 1.25 mm section would be spot on.

    I dunno. The one I got is 6.35mm ID, and it is easy to get on too. I think the one I linked second with the ID of 6.1mm and 1.6mm thickness would be a great fit. 1/4 mm smaller should be a little tighter to get on, but still should seal really well.

    So I took the plunge and bought the second O ring I referenced (well, 50 of them) and it's still a touch too big. I will look into other options, and post back. I am going to end up cutting off my nose to spite my face here, but I'll find an alternative to help others out, if it kills me. The attached photo is 9.1mm OD and 6.3mm ID I think this one will be the next one I try: http://au.rs-online.com/web/p/seals-o-rings/0689603/ - 11/32 inch (8.73mm) OD, 7/32 inch (5.56mm) ID.
