After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

India, Elephant hills Peaberry.

Roasted 750 grams of Elephant Hills Peaberry last week, stopped the roast just before second crack, approx CS 8, not my best ever roast, grassy, underdeveloped and very thin in the cup (lacking viscosity)

Have since roasted another 750 gram batch to approx CS9, looks better, will try it in a couple of days, I'm hoping it will be an improvement on the first lot.

    DB - it's not unusual for Peaberry's to require a bit more energy.......you need to think about the extra mass and density, etc.

    Thanks mycuppa, will keep the fact in mind, may even put a note on the door of my green cupboard to remind me. Will be interesting to see what the second batch turns out like.

    I'm now well in to the second batch of this bean. Even though I took the this roast just past second crack its still disappointing, none of the chocolate flavours and syrupy pours combined with big crema that I enjoy in coffee. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure others would enjoy it, simply not to my taste. :)

    Roasted the last of these beans today 750 grams, not expecting much, won't be sorry to see the end of them. :)

    Well it's a good thing it's the last batch. I'm with you on Post #4. Syrupy big crema gunk is the way I like it too.

    Changed the roast profile on the last batch, dropped the heat by 100°C at first crack this extended the roast time by about 3 minutes, the result is far more acceptable than my first couple of roasts with this bean. Nice syrupy pour, lots of body and good crema, the taste? 7 out of 10. Much better result, regardless, won't be rushing to order more of the stuff. :)

    ive been playing around with the India Elephant Hills AA (not peaberry) and getting some terrific results I ramped to first crack on the behmor and the hit the cooling cycle at the end of first crack (just as it was starting to hit second) And Ive been getting some lovely creamy / caramel / toffee, and turmeric flavours - a medium bodied profile with a hint of toastiness and some nice sweetness didnt think it would work well as a single origin but ive been pleasantly surprised pretty sure it would taste great as a filter coffee p
