After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
The weather has just turned here in Brisbane and it's time for me to find a light jumper. Seeing your picture with the log-splitter in action illicits an evocation that is romantic bit far from my reality... Lovely composition!

light jumper. I wish. Heater pumping all day and rugged up too
Beautiful setting With regard to temperature. As a former resident of Qld. and various other parts, I can honestly say that you get acclimatised to wherever you're at. It was certainly cool here yesterday morning when I went out the door but it was also sunny. I put my usual farm gear on and went and did my thing (picking up the logs in the front paddock and log splitting), and didn't take any more notice. Finished off at lunchtime and got in the car to drive into town at 1.15pm. I was surprised to look at the in dash thermometer as I was driving away (its quite accurate...its German!) and see it was registering a nice 3.5 degrees. In town it was anywhere between 7.5 and 9.5 (heatwave :stir). When I left for town this morning (7.20am) it was 2 degrees in the garage, dropping to zero outside, and then it dropped all the way down to minus 5 and then back to minus 3.5 in town at 7.55. And when I pulled up at the office at 10.00am, a positive 3.5 degrees! If its a nice day, its all irrelevant....only relevant when the low temp is accompanied by winds or is horribly grey and overcast.
Photo taken last year this time. The weather was sunny!!! Drive through Maccas with my son (I haven't yet mentioned I've got a 12 year old from a past life). He of course ordered.
The joys of L/H drive eh? How long did it take for the macca's maid to get her head around the "why is he driving at that age?" (Of course he paid as well. :D)

The maid couldn't hear him before I turned the motor off. It's a bit of a thumper.

That shape Mustang was easy on the eye - lovely design I did my apprenticeship in a Ford dealership and worked on many mustangs and GTHOs ect Did you know that the Falcons were based on the Mustang floor plan KK
Well for starters I didnt know that....very interesting ! In looking at the photo I zeroed straight in on a) the quarter vent and b) the window winder. I am not a fan of air cond in the car until the ambient becomes unbearable, and I have always bemoaned the phasing out of quartervents. Except for small inconveniences like when the vent syphons a bee or wasp into your vehicle or up your arm or neck, I reckon they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. A few weeks ago I was in a vehicle and couldnt work out how to open the window....was looking for the toggle to activate the electric winder....bad move. It was a MANUALLY operated window. How far have we come.....or should I say, where have we gone? ;D And a chrome winder at that....love it.

thats right KK. many parts are interchangeable between falcons and mustangs. I rebuilt/restored mine from the ground up. Fully stripped down. Every nut and bolt replated. It's a factory A code GT with 4 on the floor. Factory AC car. The only thing I changed was the colour (wife's request) and the motor is a 347 stroker instead of the bog standard 289. Here's a link to the album where I've placed heaps of pics of the restoration/build: http://s154.photobucket.com/user/levo_madlak/library/Mustang GT 1965?sort=3&page=1
Very much like the youchhoob link. Beautiful job, mouthwatering classic.
thanks FC. Just wish the weather was better to drive it more often. I've driven it in the rain a few times but then I spend hours cleaning it and that includes jacking it up and cleaning the undercarriage.

cute photo CB. weather looks great too. We managed to go for a walk today around the block with the little one and our two staffs. They walked behind the pram so gently. They know there's a new pack leader in the house.
Some likely characters found round the traps yesterday arvo. Hare and roo are not really welcome, but hard to shift. The roo is a lone buck that has taken up residence in the paddock. Down the back there are hundreds but they move around. Hard to get close so both photos just lucky strikes especially the hare. Photo back across dam pretty much taken into the sun...
Thanks guys we love it. The chickens, ducks & fowl are for both eggs and meat. The guinea fowl also for tiger snake repelling, and I love their call. Full of character.
I found myself on a short trip to Nairobi, and played coffee tourist for a day or two. Managed to visit a small plantation & also the coffee exchange. Here's a few Iphone pics from my travels. Tough times for the farmers with prices so low...
