I thought since there are a few of us we could have a photography thread


Trees by Nic's Stuff, on Flickr

Now that I've figured out how flickr works we have been exploring the Richmond Vale Railway and this was a photo of some trees (dur obviously), I just really like it.  Actually taken on my Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ10, easier carrying that bushwalking rather than my Nikon.  I love this little camera and suggest it to anyone that wants a point and shot with a little bit more and great video.

Hi dR Pentax K200D with 28-50 and 75-300 which we bought particularly at the time of the trip. First DSLR we have owned and it is terrific. My wife is the photo and video person. I'm the editor...of the video stuff.

Here are some of my Vietnam photos from 2007. I was shooting with a D200 and Nikon 18-200VR.  Vietnam is an amazing country and a photographer's dream however when traveling with family and a group the opportunity to compose photos is sadly shortlived.  None the less here are a couple that made me smile!

i won a trophy for this one although not actually this copy but the same photo of the print i put in a show . the one i entered i put in a bit more time in the darkroom than i did with this copy that is in my computer . the one i entered had a little more detail in the dark areas and a little less white and more detail in the light areas . but you get the idea from this shot . i was when i was keen on photography and the dark room work . taken with a nikon FE2 35mm and i think it was a an 85mm lens from memory . the film was an ilford that i used to bulk load myself .

thanks , the picture lost a lot between mono print and the cheap scanner to get it onto the computer .

Took this a couple of years back, Thailand really is a photographers paradise.

Never been to Thailand but I imagine you've captured the essence of the place with that shot DB.  Speaking of, my little girl Milly wants to know if you've a slab-saw that can open a Thunder Egg for her.  She looks quite sad in the photo that our 10" saw is a touch too small to cope with her new friend.  The rock itself belong to Denis Braemer who has published some books on Agate Creek and SE Queensland Agate/Mineral Specimens.

Great photos guys! You have some nice kit. Here's a panorama comprising 12 photos I took (without my tripod) in Vanuatu and stitched up in photoshop. DB - nice house!

G'Day Brett, Judging by the way Milly is dressed looks like you have some colder weather going up your way as well. Sorry cant help with a slabbing saw, in the opal industry 8 inch is considered a big blade, somehow I reckon it's going to take more like a 36 inch to cut that bad boy. ;D

Now that is a great shot and looks so peaceful , almost  too good to be true and the colour in the flowers etc.   Looked hard but could not see coffee trees any where

Hey DB (Sorry don't know you real name so hope DB is ok), Your EXIF ISO is 1250 - amazing color!! Did you do any post-processing to the pic?? Any HDR scripts??

ME... I can not use any thing that is not point and shoot  :o :o But I know what I like and the contrast, the lighting in the sky and depth of colour as well as the subject.  Just tickles my fancy.  From the bush and thus the place has a tug on child hood memories and what my mum tried to do in the middle of the scrub and in places that would be considered almost desert. She came out from England at 18 just after the war, married my old man in central Qld and spent many years in some of the most barren and out of the way places.   She was from an upper class family and looking back, it always amazed me how the two of them have lasted as long as they have... But I always recall snap dragons, pansies and other flowers she tried to grow as a reminder of home... So what are the flowers ? PS. Any chance of a better quality photo 

The flowers were Cineraria's  and Pansies. Will try and grab something better when the lighting is right.

DB is fine Muscles. ISO 1250 eh? goes to show what can happen when you rely on memory, must have been pushing pretty hard for light, I recall using a tripod. as a matter of interest how did you pick up the camera settings from the image I posted in this thread? From memory I adjusted levels and lighting on Nikon Capture NX.

Nope not on any photo sites, the original file is a little over 6mb, can try to email it to you though it may be too large.
