After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Hello. I have just joined this forum.
I have had a Rancilio Silvia series 1 for some years now and run a Sunbeam EM0480 grinder.

I would love to upgrade both machines one day, but in the meantime they are still making very good coffee.

    Good on you!  I started serious coffee with a Silvia V1 and a Nemox Lux.  Still have the Lux almost 20 years later!  The plastic is a bit dodgy but it grinds surprisingly well!  Welcome mate!

    Welcome to the forum SirVal. I still have the Rancilio Silvia V2 bought three years ago and it still looks like new. They are certainly built well. I understand you are looking to upgrade, but my suggestion is if possible, hang on to it while going through upgraditis. They are an icon in the home barista world and they are something you could in a number of years reflect back on the start of your coffee journey. Collector,s item perhaps. They still have a cult style following. Enjoy your time here with this friendly bunch. [emoji106]

    Ive pulled some amazing shots on a silvia before  -not a big fan of the steam production or the turnaround time if making more than one coffee but still capable of making an excellent cuppa and ive had better coffee from a silvia than ive had from many cafes! P
