After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

    Have no idea what you said technically. All I can say is that is one damn fine photo worth blowing up and framed onto a wall for all to see. I like the clever use of colors and the converging lines. Nice. Where is that location?

    Used to live in Geelong back in the seventies, and can remember going past Altona on the diesel trains with sliding doors to each cabin on the way to Melbourne. Not sure if you know Busselton Jetty here in WA, it is 2km long and it is a popular location for the type of photography that you do. The sun sets in the west which provides a stunning backdrop especially if there,s a bit of cloud around.

    never been there but seen many photos. Unreal location. Would love to go there one day

    Thanks gents. A few more snapped up this morning of this old jetty/boat ramp in Williamstown Vic. Also one of my photos was featured on Ten Eyewitness News last night during the weather report. I'm just trying to find if someone recorded it so I can share it.

    I agree!!  He keeps the rest of us inspired and trying new things.... With varying degrees of success: case in point.... I'm trying Snapseed on the iPad for some basic editing.  The workflow on the iPad isn't great but it's convenient.  I've a new Toshiba thing with surface-like tablet thing with Win10 and Photoshop so we'll see how that goes but it's not as convenient as iPad.  Snapseed I think is lossless and free: 60mm Macro, cropped and filter-coloured on iPad.  Not a real success but cool to see the limited focal plane on offer with macro and despite the power of post-filters not overwhelming the subject due to a great lens.

    I'm glad I'm inspiring you guys. [emoji3]. Don't mean to put you guys, with your full frame monsters, to shame... Lol. I believe that an image can inspire us and that is what happened to me. I was inspired by a Japanese photographer on Instagram that does fine-art long exposures and thought to myself how relaxing must that be to take photos like that. For me the fun part is getting on site at ridiculous hours, setting up, composing, and then waiting for the right moment. Sometimes it's an hour, sometimes more. Sometimes I don't get the shot and I got back the next day. That my friends is my therapy, my outlet. A way to tune out and take in my surroundings. For me it's more than just the photo. It's what leads up to pressing the shutter button on my cable release. Brett I didn't know you played with Legos. [emoji41]

    My wife is a huge Lego fan so my kids have quite a bit of it!  As teachers we both endorse Lego for kids as its a multi-faceted experience that kicks so many Outcomes Goals all under the guise of cool fun!

    Thanks for clearing that up Brett........but I think GK was asking a pointed question that you so skillfully avoided answering.........and yet we are sitting on the edges of our seats to find out.......... Did you make that Lego assembly and more to the point, why not show off some of your own personal Lego designs at the same time so we can see a real contender to GK's brilliance Disclosure - am also a massive fan of Lego.

    I also like your photos GK I don't have the time to do what you do and my work overlaps some prime times of the day So I concentrate on flowers Today I had some flower blooms come to life at my place and took my time for some close ups with the Canon

    Nice pics KK. The only flowers I have at my place are... Well none. With most of my photos they are taken during twilight in the morning. Hard work getting up that early but well worth it for the light and colours. Here are a few from this morning.

    thanks FC. that photo was a hard one. The sun was coming up quick so timing was of the essence during the 4 minute exposure. I wanted the sun to peak towards the end of the capture. The dynamic range was also high so smart metering was essential. The photo itself has "two" horizons. The left is further out with trees getting smaller as the horizon converges towards the right to the other "horizon" from the end of the creek. It looks like the horizon itself is not straight but it is. The highlights from the sun also gives an optical illusion that the horizon is bent. I might have to play with this one to see if I "straighten" it gives a better overall look to it even though the camera was level.

    yes you do. Plus that old decking on the jetty needed some light so I had an off camera flash set up to bring its exposure up a tad.
