After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Barista Education - Truth and Ritual
My brothers and sisters, never before has there been such a proliferation of mis-information, touted as "the way to the perfect cup".
Making espresso, an easy task, has been broken down into a million miniscule elements with equal actions of flourish and show. Each new barista educator "illuminati" adds another miniscule action to the pre-existing pile of Ca-Ca, to justify his/her position as a so called leader in the trade.
What, in fact they are on-selling to the gullible masses is little pieces of "ritual", delivered bit by bit to the ringing of the cash registers.
Lets qualify this. They are on-selling "70% ritual and 30% truth", and the truth pre-exists them by many years. Hence they are just regurgitating somebodys elses facts and try to take credit for it by attaching some ritual of their own, then go for credit on all of it.
This has held back the advances of true research and the growth of real knowledge, as these "illuminati" are focusing solely on the ritual elements which support their massive egos.
Understand me, my flock. Any action in coffee making is only as good as achieving a "measurable outcome in solution". If the action results in no perceivable or measurable change "in the cup", then we can safely assume this it is myth and ritual.
Ask yourself - Have I been presented with any research qualifying and justifying the coffee-making actions I am paying dearly to learn? Do not rely on "I believe" as enough justification to call it truth. Ask these "illuminati" what new knowledge (qualified by research) that they have added to the free and pre-existing methodology that pre-dates them all. Take note of the blank stares and the shuffling of feet.
Coffee trainers ( not even real barista educators)-- "its time to get your hands off your group-handle, you've been espressing far too long".
