After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
If you have not already had a good look around... Go for it... Most of us are laid back and some more than others..... PS. I can not see ya avatar ?? Small or me going blind ?
Been lurking for a while AM. Seen the lie of the land. Learned something new. My avatar is an Ethiopian woman which will do until I find something better. Unlike you, my preference is for African coffee - 'specially Ethiopian. Mind you, Central Americans are running a close second. Then again, I still have a fair bit of greens in my stash that I haven't tried yet. Sorry you felt compelled to quit CS AM but happy to share another forum with you (even if reading one of your posts is an exercise akin to learning a new language ) I was up in Qld last week but on a short stay with family commitments absorbing all my time so sorry, I didn't have the opportunity to catch up with any of you.
Hello Acog, sorry I missed welcoming you earlier it wasn't intentional Also a big crema welcome to newbie Rider And last but not least a hip hip hooray for hiphipharar (aka as Steve) Regards KK

Life has happened, was a Foreign Exchange Trader for many years, technology happened and found myself drifting to the motorcycle trade, due to a life long love affair with the things.
I am into finance and mechanical things And member Dry Bean is somewhat of a bike collector So you will fit right in KK
Hello all, Name finally got through after original name binned due to bots apparently, Anyway, another refugee from a well known site... Life has happened, was a Foreign Exchange Trader for many years, technology happened and found myself drifting to the motorcycle trade, due to a life long love affair with the things. I'm older than Di....... :D Have been teaching people for around 12 years on a part time basis, the last couple full time. Teach novices through to stupid stuff at race tracks. In that interim period did a Bruce (Vinitasse) and lost wife 1.0 but after a while found wife 2.0. She grew up as a missionary kid and is an absolute pleasure to spend time with. Coffee really happened for us around 2 to 3 years ago through a few friends with nice gear and a similar penchant. They are now amused by my obsession compared to their slightly more than mild interest ;D Have done the usual upgrade path, SB 6910 and 0480 (great learning ground), but eventually took the plunge and happily live with a VBM Domobar Super, Macap M4D, Scace 2, a couple of Behmors, Bread maker, Popper etc etc. Like others have claimed, we are here for the coffee, along with forthright, honest information that we can hopefully give, as well as receive. Anyway, enough twaddle, REALLY happy to be here guys n girls Chris
Morning and Welcome Rider, nice too know I have another bike rider here for support.
Well about time I spoke up. Opted for a different username this time to my CS presence (flynn_aus). My coffee journey over the last 3 years is a familiar one - from someone who was barely weaned off instant to a full-blown snob (small s and big S) via the usual upgraditis path. I have the ever reliable Giotto P Plus & Mazzer Mini combo I have more coffee prep equipment than time to use it but I have a preference for manual brewing methods these days - syphon, Clever Coffee Dripper and Aeropress whichever takes my fancy but mostly the CCD used at work.
G'Day hiphipharar/Flynn, good to see you over this way. ;D

Let me be the first to "Re Welcome" you back to the Crema forum Graham KK
It is time for me to say hi here. I have just gotten home from a family holiday in New Zealand and wow there has been lots of changes here in the time I have been away. I too came from the other site and have not been involved for a long time - it is nice to see many friendly "faces" here that I recognise. I look forward to continuing my journey here!

Hello to all. Must be time for another one AM. Troy's again? Seems my story is all to simmilar to others, searching for a better cup. Hottop (that died this morning mid roast ) Expobar Minore, Mazzer Kony E, Syphon, Chemex & other stuff. Upgradis is hitting me hard at the moment, paddle machines are looking good.
While I'm not exactly 'new' here I still should take the time to introduce myself. My coffee journey has been a long one, but a real fire was lit about 6 or so years ago when I found out about 'specialty coffee' and discovered it was as interesting and complex as wine - PLUS you could make it at home with comparative (to wine) ease. While I don't come from a background in wine, I do have a long history of putting delicious things in my mouth and enjoying the hell out of them! Since then, coffee has become my life & last year I chucked in a long career in sales channel management to manage a cafe in Sydney's inner west. Its probably the best thing I've done for myself ever, I can't remember ever feeling this happy & relaxed about going to work every day. Aside from coffee, my interests are wide ranging. In short, I like stuff. Stuff I don't know about. Stuff I do know about but want to know more. From quantum physics to that little road sign that says "dam" & points down a dirt road you name it I'll be keen to hear about it. very much looking forward to chatting with y'all here!

cheers A, there is a story and AM is pretty close! Many MANY years ago when I started DJing at clubs around Sydney, I called myself DJ Demidenko (after Helen Darville/Demidenko) but decided after a month that I didn't like it. I needed to come up with something quick smart for an ad and thought that 'hazchem' as in a Hazardous Chemicals warning sounded pretty cool. It fit well with the kind of music I played (industrial & electronica) & clubs I ran so it stuck. Around the same time, I first started using IRC & messageboards & decided that I should create an internet 'persona' as it were to hide behind. I started using hazchem discordia and 15 or so years later here I am! Still always surprised whenever I sign up to a new website that someone hasn't taken hazchem as a user name.

I sent you a PM hazchem First you may cry, then you will laugh, then you will punch the air saying " You beauty " KK

Not quite a newbie but like a few of the others i should own up to some of my past and present Will answer to Tim or beanflying and have been called much worse names. Started off living in Berwick (43 years ago) and Warragul where the burnt crappuchino was the norm or it came from a glass jar if you were lucky. Went to Uni to do Electrical Engineering and study the drinking of beer and bad coffee to get through the all night study sessions. Started off my work life in the Pump and Irrigation business making virtually no use of my schooling at all but it suited where I wanted to be at the time. Like a lot of companies at the time of the last real recession the one I worked for went broke which sent me off to the big smoke of Melbourne. Got into selling industrial Pumps for chemicals which included some control electronics and filtration. At about this time I started finding some fairly nice places to eat and some decent coffees and so the descent into finding a great coffee commenced. After 10+ years in the city working for to many hours and sitting on a car seat for another 30-40 each week I chucked it all in, sold the WRX and headed for a quiet little corner of Victoria to Port fairy to sell Kites, Toys and hire a few bikes and work 7 days a week. I like to think of this as semi retirement but it can get manic during the tourist season. There in lies the coffee problem this little town has a lot of cafes and a lot of espresso machine most of which are consistently undrinkable to rubbish at best so enter the WWW and the search for how to make a better cup of coffee at home. Like a lot here found CS and the then happy and helpful community and started buying gear (not detailing it again suffice it to say I have lots) and learning how to make a decent coffee with lots of methods. Got into Roasting as well thanks to a heatgun, bowl and spoon, currently using a Hottop and looking at a small commercial roaster next year. arranged a coffee cart for outside the front of the shop for the busy season for the 3 grp Izzo Lever to sit on and currently making a new shop counter for the 1 grp Lever to go into the shop on a permanent basis. Apart from coffee there is model aircraft and helicopters, Land Rovers, Electronics, Computers, Cooking and Kites from single string to Kitesurfing and anything in between. So what I currently do for a job is 'play with toys' and am aiming to grow older and more grey doing it for as long as I can
