After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Just to clear a few things up: Roast size: EITHER 1 x 400 grams approximately OR 2 x 200 grams approximately The above is to keep the postage under 500 grams and also for the smaller roasters that can't do 400 grams in one hit, you can buy 500 grams packages from Auspost though so hopefully whatever people decide this will keep the postage costs under control as even a gram over 500 grams becomes stupidly expensive. End time for getting on the list: I would like all names in by Sunday, just in case people aren't on on the weekends get to me as quick as you can on Monday morning, I will be sending out swap names at Midday. List is random: so secret surprise type of thing, don't tell each other, it's always fun trying to guess who you got by the roasting style. Right here is the list so far Richard Unm Shapeshifter Derrilex WotB Galumay Jonty Lemoo Ronin Lacehim Kelsey KK Bottomline Madpierre BeanFlying Brett H Mycuppa Tango
Looking forward to this one. I won't be moving for about 5 weeks now so I will not need to buy beans, which to me is a relief as I want to keep in the sprit of the swap and get some feedback.
It's a bit hard for me to hide identity as we will be sending it via our super-efficient logistics service which has Sender information already labelled.
I'm out, unfortunately. Turns out I'm now a full-time carer.... and that my boy is a lot more 'full time' than you'd think. Even though I'm here every day, I didn't realise until now just how much supervision he required. I don't really have time to work at the moment, let alone roast. I'll be in the next one.

This is normal but the really good news is you'll be back on track before you know it.
Much as this is/has been aimed at home roasters maybe if not this time then the next for those under pressure no reason not to include commercially sourced beans for fun >:D Bag o Safeway Vittoria anyone
completely agree and it also still gives those that can't roast the chance to try others beans, I'm completely up for that and told someone else so privately if he wanted to join in I think it's a great thing to try out each others local roasters beans, never know when we or someone else will be in the area that we know and wants beans or a great coffee
Ok things are off any running, everyone has their pairings. An idea to also keep it a little random is that when sending the beans to not write what they are, what they consist of, just label them in a way that you remember, let the person tasting see if they can guess what is in it - NOTES NOTES NOTES
I wasnt that organised, and thought I might get wotb! No, not a bad thing mate but it would have been great to get some feedback in my syphon roasts which just don't seem to work for me. Anyway hopefully I'll roast in a few days when I feel better, and 200 zip bag arrive! Hehe I guess I will just roast and post but put a suggested consume date on.
I plan on letting my swap buddy work out when he or she wants to use the beans. I will supply some basic information and just take what feedback comes my way. Maybe my buddy can learn a thing or two about how good a hottop can be for home roasting rather than one of those lesser home roasting setups :stir :stir
I still have a roast to go, just a SO I hope they haven't had before, my blend is getting there, I think it's 8 days since roasting and it still hasn't hit the spot, hopefully when they get it it'll be right to go
Hmmm now do I stick with my 2 bean blend or throw something else into the mix. Or do I do what KK is doing - 200 blend, 200 SO. Already roasted on the 28 th for the swap.
Well my victim client will have to wait a few days until I have time to roast. Actually I think I have something here from a few months ago, it'll be ok, right? :stir
It would be good practice to make a post to 1) inform us of the swap beans arrival & 2) take a photo of the beans by the receiver so we can all see Then a follow up post with Taste review ect Hope this agreeable to all KK
