After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
I thought this was a great idea first time around but due to being unwell couldn't participate. It is rather easy as a home roaster to just go tunnelling down your own path, things like this are good to get some perspective and new ideas. I've got my act together this time and signed up and sent off some beans yesterday afternoon. And looking forward to a small parcel in the letter box. The taste review is an excellent idea. I'm recruiting a small panel from the coffee nuts here at work to help out. Should be interesting.
I am all for some follow up and tasting (or lack of >:D) notes from the receiver of the beans. It is up to the sender at some stage if they wish to or not out themselves I guess. Aside from this I have just arranged to do a swap of some beans with a fairly new startup roaster in Melbourne too. Feedback from others (and being honest with yourself) will get you more along the way to being a better roaster than hiding and just drinking your own because YOU know it is better ::)
