After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

I'm new here...

  • Gday Shaf Welcome to Crema forum I am sure you will fit in with the rest of us tragic coffee lovers P.S. - ssshhhhh - I also like a good cup of tea KK
  • Ok, I am back. It's nice to see that entry to this forum is open again to all rather than being selective. Here to discuss coffee and also to clear some untruths if required. I sincerely hope that won't be necessary. Chris
  • actually Chris, we haven't had a 'selective' policy before... from memory, you were a member here until you removed yourself a couple of months ago; the only other person we didn't approve was someone who tried to register as 'attack dog' and I don't know any admin/moderator in the world who would let someone register with that proposed username. However, given the reported nasty emails/PMs that you seem to send anyone and everyone who displeases you, and the few that I myself received [until you were consigned to my Junk folder] you are clearly unable to make a positive contribution here, and are not welcome. A
  • Hi Dennis [since I assume this is you] - happy to have you on board as long as you obey forum rules & don't spruik your products. The only question I have is why you don't continue with your apparent alias of Coffeedoode, as it has been reported to me that you 'outed' yourself as such on another forum? A

How about we put you on probation Talk Coffee Anything you say will be on record, as we dont delete posts or whole threads So please consider your post content carefully KK
  • Hello Ashley, yes Cuppacoffee and Dennis are one and the same. I assure you, coffeedoode was/is not me.  The suggestion that I outed myself elsewhere is incorrect. Cheers Den

Chris, Based on the venom and bile you have shown toward this forum and the members of recent times I am amazed that you would actually come back to here unless it was to cause trouble. Tim
  • sorry KK & Bf - have got better things to do with my life & really can't be bothered with him; the ex-TC is the forum's first [& hopefully only ever] banned member. A

A - Awesome!  thanks Ashley for running a transparent and open forum where the focus is great coffee and great people.

Thanks for clearing that up Dennis and welcome. I couldn't upon reflection imagine that someone who is a business owner has the time or energy to play forum politics if their product is what comes first; so, I'm glad that I was wrong in assuming that Coffeedude was your cover.
  • Thankyou Brett, I do appreciate your comments and welcome.

Ok Dennis, thanks for clarifying. A
  • Probably fairer not to ban Chris - if it was anyone else they'd be treated more gently, but everyone's upset about the whole Breville issue? With the furore over that dying down a little, Chris' knowledge in other matters might actually be beneficial to the community? just a thought - I understand that I've had my own issues with some people at another forum but I'm all for reconciliation. J
  • Hi Dennis, and welcome - good to see you here! Will come down your way one day when circumstances - the same as last time, actually allow! best, John.

+1 Although some folks here have their differences with Chris, I'd rather judge by actions now, rather than past history. If anyone on the forum  breaks the simple rules, then banning them is fair enough, but dismembering someone in advance of anticipated crimes is just wrong (imnsho).

in all fairness chris has used other social mediums to openly bag both the crema forum and its contributors - which makes me question why he would want to become a member of a forum that he is openly disparaging of?
  • The decision to remove Chris was not done at the whim of any one person as happens on plenty of other forums, discussion was held not seen by the members before action was taken. And as A points out above not taken lightly at all. A simple check of the Talk Coffee Twitter (I would post a copy but best you read it for yourselves) account will start to give you an idea of why action was taken. Other examples have been removed from other web forums elsewhere.

Look to be honest, I would rather not have, but he originally withdrew himself several months ago and several unsolicited emails from him since then have clearly demonstrated he does not wish to, or is incapable of, making a positive contribution. ... as an example, the very second post he made here this morning was one spruiking his own products, thus thumbing his nose at clear forum rules [unseen by yourself because it was picked up by an alert moderator & promptly deleted]; it's not that I or the mods have anything personal against him, but we just have better things to do....
  • fair enough - I was responding only within the context of this forum and what I'd seen. twitter is being kinda nasty at the moment.
  • I have never publicly shared my thoughts on a forum regarding the 2 persons of interest who have both decided to join Crema today, I have to say how disgusted I am to have read what they have been writing on Twitter regarding our forum.  I never knew until just now that I was a "bully boy!" and part of a 'bully boy club". Why do you "grown up men" have to keep on insulting people who have a difference of opinion to you?  How am I a nasty bitter sook?
  • I'm sure everyone can get along, as long as those people in question understand that "Private messages" WILL be reposted publicly if they are derogatory/slanderous (certainly by me, and I assume others), so don't even bother with them if misunderstandings occur (referring specifically to direct PM's I have had previously regarding my membership here). Everything can be resolved in public, and without namecalling. We are ALL above that. It's just coffee....after all.
  • Meg and all, I hope you can understand that there are at least two sides to every story.  It surely isn't surprising that I have retalliated, having been villified here and elsewhere in the past. I do have a tendency to defend myself and my friends vigorously.  I don't wish to create turmoil, or be a member here if I am unwelcome.  If the administrator of this site asks, I will cancel my membership without objection.  In the meantime, I openly apologise to those I have upset. Think of me what you will.  I simply ask that members apply the same rules of civility to me as they would expect...and to get the facts right! If you have any questions of me I will answer honestly and to the best of my ability.  Otherwise, I'll let this rest. Cheers Den
  • Hi Dennis Within reason this site has a far more liberal approach to allowing free comment than you may be used to. Having a grumble or even a complain online such as you have done on Twitter is a long way from those tweets Chris currently has posted. They are out and out offensive & derogatory to anyone associated with this forum and a result of this and past behaviour of only a few months ago when last on this forum. Team this with private tirades and barbs directed at some of us a decision was reached only a few hours ago to ban him from membership. As his current login Chris is now using seems to be only to continue to stir up trouble on this forum  I would be of the opinion that this membership should be terminated as well, this will be discussed and a decision reached in the next little while. cheers Tim
