After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Yes please Pete More about yourself so we can get to know you better KK
Sure .. 36 year old Canadian / Australian .. been in the coffee industry for just about a year. Been a coffee geek for about 7 years. I recently started working as a service coordinator for Wolff Coffee Roasters here in Brisbane. We are Australia's only authorised Probat agent. My role involves everything from day to day operations in the roastery ( not yet including roasting coffee ) as well as Probat sales. Its an awesome job that I absolutely love .. how often do you find a mon - fri job in coffee? I also have a coffee blog called BNE Coffee .. www.bnecoffee.net .. although since starting at this job I haven't had much time to do anything with the blog. Outside of coffee I am heavily involved in my church and a few other side projects. So .. thats me in a nutshell .. ( help help .. I'm stuck in a nutshell )

No problem but I forgot to welcome you to our friendly Crema Coffee Forum Don't be a stranger and post often We all learn a little gained knowledge from each other KK
The main bit that looks so bad, is the MAIN group head..... This is LOOKS and not overly significant. Clean with a hard tooth brush or at the most a small brass brush. Bunnings / Super cheep Auto have them in sets of 3. And you can see the main block here The status of the collar is part of the reason that your locking in at 4:30 - 5... Here is a new one. This is not a big deal, so long as it seals. As a short term fix get a spacer, Sunbeam may even send one out for free if you ask them. Most coffee machines use spacers at some stage see here. A: Clean the main head and treat with rice bran oil... B: Get a spacer C: So long as it does not leak; your fine and it should last another 6 to 12 months at least. I will see if I can find the pics, but your hubby OR you can mod the lugs on the PF and that will also help to make it last longer... AM
What is PF and what do you mean. I think I have been worried about nothing just shocked about seeing it like that. I have also in looking for my solutions EVERYWHERE learned a lot about over dosing the basket, which will be corrected next cup. Thanks for all your help I will ask for the new collar soon. Can't push it. He just booked us a trip to Bali in October. Thanks again Dawn
Err Hi! My ears are burning ??? did someone mention me? Welcome to Crema Dawn. This is a great forum. Dawn, we know a good number of members here by our first names, it's a good, clean and close knit community here. As you can see, a number of regulars at CS are also here. OK now, I still have the "thing" languishing in the background, with the Rancilio "Miss" Silvia being the workhorse and trouble free relationship for this year and the second half of last year. Mine is working minus the steaming which has gone south. If you want professional results, go to Coffee Classic in Hilton, which is near Fremantle. They will also check, service and descale your machine thoroughly. They are in the white pages directory. I got mine done through them a while back, and have been happy with their work. Now that the steam has died, i will consider getting it fixed ( and i don;t think it's something i can fix) and then getting it sent to my mum's so that she can enjoy coffee made by me the next time i'm in Dongara. Sorry i'm not as proficient as AM in problem solving. For cases like these, i try to solve first , then when it gets too hard, get pros to fix. In the meantime, you're welcome to have a look at my machine and run them side by side, and perhaps get you into the dark side, which is roasting your own beans :thumb: Gary at G
First post.... :P I am in my 30's though feel more like 40 or 50 :P I have worked in hospitality most of my life. I am a chef by trade. Came to my love of coffee with the lack of sleep and the ease of accessibility hospitality offers you. As I am an avid drinker and spend an awful lot on coffee, thought id see if I could pick up a tip or two from some pros. I have just recently closed my own bistro and now have a friend who is looking for someone to run a cafe for them. This includes the barista section of the cafe. I have made coffees for myself with the various kitchens I have worked in, but have yet to do it for a living. I am sure most of my job will be in the kitchen, but I will be expected to do some coffee making and also hire some people (so it is better that I look like I know what I am doing :P) I also love coffee so saw this as an opportunity to work with something I love and further my education! Hope to chat with you guys soon!
Hello everybody! My name is Adam and its been 3 hours and 41 minutes since my last coffee. I guess at the end of the day, I more than love coffee. It has provided me happiness, indulgence, a career, and a way of life. There are many layers to my life, and seeing as though I don't know all of you on a personal level, I'd like to keep that a little private. I have been in the profession since I was 14, I am now 37. I would never really have called myself a professional barista (I guess I'm the right age now, right?) until maybe the past 4 years. Even then, more like the past 2. I learn every second of every day that I'm on the machine, or at the roasters', or cupping, or learning a new brew technique, and every little nuance or different thought process there. Even now I sometimes cringe when people call themselves a barista, when (selfishly) I know full well they mean Coffeemaker. Yes, I have high expectations. Of myself, my work ethic, and those around me. Hardcore, but in this world of consummate professionals, one must have desire to want to be a better, stronger, smarter barista. Or else I'm just a coffeemaker. I feel highly privileged to work on high end gear everyday, and honoured to drink amazing specialty coffee. We are very lucky here in Australia, our cafes are some of the best in the world, with some of the best talent working the tools. I love my job, and love/live/adore the ceremony of serving espresso.
If you are the Adam that made me a coffee when I was on my 30th wedding anniversary break on Broadbeach Gold Coast Thank you You saved me :thumb: Never the less Adam, welcome to the Crema forum  KK
Hatchy here, Final year of my medical degree. Needed to fuel my need of caffeine with cheaper coffee, but didnt want to sacrifice on taste so got into roasting last year with a popper, which is still going strong 20kg later. Wanting to roast bigger batches so it takes less time, so currently looking out for the cheapest available larger batch roasting option. Love the openness of this forum already.
Hatchy - where are you located? Someone local may be able to help you on your way. Coretto is one option, but lower cost may be dog bowl and heat gun. Unless I am mistaken, all a coretto adds is automated stirring.
I was at the Wesley 4 weeks ago. We had our second child there and loved the place as much as we did the first time. A very well run hospital with loads of support for Mums. :thumb:
If you were local to me I could offer you a breadmaker for corretto duties, but it is a bit of a drive from S.E Melb. Wonder if anyone up your way is selling a roaster or parts to make one.
There was talk of this 'toddler' roaster on CS a while back. I had an offer for a guy to buy me one and post it up here - I think it was Melbourne or Sydney. Anyway that guy fell through and I haven't been able to contact him via CS ever since. That's the sort of thing i'd be keen to get my hands on, something that can do 250g and use Gas to do it. Actually, no, i'd be keen to get my hands on whatever's available on the cheap!
