After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
I guess i should pen a few words of introduction, obviously i know a fair few of you from other places where coffee is discussed, both locally and OS. I live in a remote corner of the NT, in North East Arnhem Land, I have a business selling Apple gear as well as doing network admin and IT stuff. Always happy to do special pricing for fellow lovers of the brown bean - I can get most computer/electronic stuff drop shipped. I have a wonderful wife who is happy to indulge my passions for coffee, travel, shiny things and art. I have a wonderful 8 year old son who luckily has inherited most of his attributes from his mother. I love food and cooking, i fish at every opportunity, i am a keen amateur photographer, i dabble in video. My love of coffee has driven me to acquiring a ridiculous range of equipment, it would have been so much easier to fall in love with tea and just buy a nice teapot - job done! instead, as you will see in my sig, i have an Izzo Pompeii Lever, a few Arrarex Caravels, a Baby Faemina, a Clever Coffee Dripper, an Aeropress, a Bialetta Brikka, a Sorrentina Atomic with the green bakelite handles, a Wega 8.6 Conical Burr grinder, a Pharos, a Lido, a La San Marco SM90 I am about to sell and last but not least a KKTO. (i think there is a Behmor in the shed too.) Loving the site so far, although its been expensive since Jonty introduced me to the seekrit wine club! I think the chat on the front page is a great innovation too - it really distinguishes the site from others. i have a blog for those interested in ready more about us, it has links to my old website and my smugmug gallery as well as my Vimeo page http://www.galumay.com.au
Welcome Galumay, it's fantastic to have you here. It's ironic that you love boats and fishing and have been drawn to the 'boat rockers' forum I believe is the new term?!! Well in that case, rock on my friend and WELCOME!! P.s when my wife demands one of the new 15" MacBook pros I now know an apple store that's not Chermside and ludicrous parking nightmares!! :thumb:
I've been lurking for a while so though I'd say g'day Hi I'm wonder, and I've been interested in coffee since staring shift work about 10 years ago (paramedic) Started after a mate made me a coffee on his sunbeam cafe series machine and grinder, I then purchased the same setup which lasted a few years. Then the bug hit.. Grinder after grinder, came and went till I got a big conical, then I pay'd the machine forward and got a small vbm jr.. Then I became disillusioned with the local beans I was buying so started roasting my own... That set up lasted about 6 months, now I've just purchased a KKTO from Kosmo ( which is on its way with some roasted beans.. Thanks Paul ). this came about due to all my work colleagues coming around to drink and "borrow" coffee ( you can't really borrow beans ::)) from my bean cupboard. We would go through 1/2 to 1 kg of browns every time they popped round, so I needed to roast more ( any excuse to upgrade) Again the bug has hit and I'm in the process of getting a restored vintage lever. This should hopefully be the end of my upgrades... I honestly can't see anything worth upgrading to after this. ( that's what SWMBO is hoping ) Other interest are alternative medicine, health fitness and lifestyle choices. Cheers Wonder

C-man checking in here---- Met a few of you at the Sunshine coast get together, what a fun bunch! and what a great Party! Let's see about me? I moved here from CS after the meeting today. A low tech kind of guy, using a Rosco Hand grinder and a Presso to make Coffee Always looking for that great coffee and great bean, Starting to think it is a illusive journey because of all the variables. After talking with AM, we both concluded; "There is no such thing as Great Coffee, only a great cup!" Cheers!
Yep, it was a huge success We never hit that good-God shot, but had fun trying! AM had his Spanish Machine trying, but he was not satisfied with any of them. The wood fired Pizza was unreal! they really have that dialed it now with some really interesting toppings The best Pizza I ever tasted hands down----EVER!
Hi C-Man, lovely to meet you and your parter today (I was the one who brought my wife, child and iPad) - glad you had a great time, I know I did! Welcome to the forum!
I was still in Brisbane and with the aid of modern technology and live video streaming felt like I was there I saw C Man and the brass hand grinder walking around Welcome to the forum and don't be shy to participate KK
Welcome C-Man, looks like I missed a corker today which is a shame. Great though to read the treads and hear the stories. Hopefully I'll catch up at the next one!
Had a bad night's sleep last night and found myself surfing the Net and thought I'd catch up on some coffee conversation. This resulted in me visiting 2 forums which I used to frequent very regularly. I think I have just woken up from a coma and a civil war has been going on :o I recognise a lot of the names so I hope the people are the same ones that were around a couple of years ago. Anyway....just saying Hi......again
Welcome along, it's more like a migration program than any war too Some of the names have remained the same and a couple have changed to protect the innocent  Kick back relax and enjoy :thumb:

Thanks guys....I'm assuming that this forum has had a complete refresh as I was posting here 5 or 6 years ago when I first got my EM6900 / EM6910 machines but all of this appears to have gone :-|

Good sleuthing Lacehim! And quite topical given the current discussions re: the longevity of big brand name domestic espresso machines like the Breville Dual Boiler in some ways it's probably fairer to Breville to compare it to the Sunbeam 6900 rather than the 6910.

Just a major facelift late last year I did a fair bit of. Some time before that there was a migration from Yabb to SMF that was before my time so I am not sure if the post counts or all user details came through correctly. The advanced search function is more powerful or even search with google is sometimes better than the native one. If you are at all interested we could always revive your old account in place of this one? Just let us know if you like
Certainly not the "exact" machine after a number of replacements from Sunbeam....but yes, still an EM6910 (and this one has certainly given a good run).
