After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Sunbeam EM7000

Well, we knew it was coming and I understand it was on show only recently...


A few pics as copied from another forum...


And you saw it here first - A link to one of the first a videos of the machine in action.  Not great detail but it hints at a number of improvements.


1. Brass collar
2. Angled handle
3: looks like a new tamp
4: Reference to 9 bar so an OPV ?
5: Milk sensor in the steam tip = Interesting 
6: PID control


As details become available, I will see that posts are updated.

    Interesting In a good way At least high volume manufactures are producing a more suitable product these days, that's had more thought put into the design, instead of dumbing it down to the lowest denominator Hope it works out for them and gives those pods a run for there money KK

    And the $ puts it at a level where it is below the 1K and thus if a significant improvement over the EM6910; then may force Breville to reconsider their $.  Either way, competition and better than full Autos or Pods.
    Totally agree on the price, as that will attract " the next step up " buyers KK

    Hmmmm, is it just me or does it look more brevilleish than sunbeamish. Steam still looks piss poor and the milk temp sensing, well, say no more. But if its price point is right Breville will have to respond I would imagine. I wonder if they have redesigned the steam thermoblock at all or are just going to use the mountain left over from the 6910  ?

    No mate, the milkman was fired.... Out of a canon. When do we think someone will stock both the 7000 and the Breville 900 for a shoot out?

    I haven't even seen a Breville 900 in the shops yet!  HN and the like up here are still busy selling their superautos!  I can't imagine the Sunbeam will be any better, landfill within 3 years, unless AM steps in and fixes all the problems!  :pan Seriously they should get him consulting and get it right the first time!  He know's the 6910's issues so well, and I can bet you there are still in the 7000.

    From the site ... "Commercial sloping handle with tamping pad". So a "tamping pad" presumably - typical appliance maker, trying to make things easier to use.  What's wrong with old school I say.

    Doesn't perform any function that I can think off. Its like they have given the PF a set of balls  :rofl:

    Depending on actual use of course, these look like both an excellent starter machine AND a serious competitor to the Breville Dual Boiler.

    Saw both these machines side by side at Myers today.  The EM6910 selling for $799 and the EM700 for $899 ...no specials at the moment!  It was hard to look at it properly, as they had it up on a high shelf....I'd already dropped the filter basket on the floor and made lots of noise, so decided to revisit another day!  Typically there was no staff around anyway.

    I'm trying to convince the bosses that we need a coffee machine at work, if they say yes I'm going for one of these, I'll supply the beans or we'll order from mycuppa  :thumb: AM I also thought it was a little strange about the no dual wall filters, I'm waiting for the interesting replies to start coming out of the woodwork about horrible coffee when majority of people use supermarket coffee.
