After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Just a major facelift late last year I did a fair bit of. Some time before that there was a migration from Yabb to SMF that was before my time so I am not sure if the post counts or all user details came through correctly. The advanced search function is more powerful or even search with google is sometimes better than the native one. If you are at all interested we could always revive your old account in place of this one? Just let us know if you like
If it's not too much trouble...I'd like that very much

Ok Honest Gaza is dead long live Honest_Gaza (again) :D If you have forgotten the old password then get a reminder sent to yourself from your old account. I have changed the email address to ....@bigpond.com and had to change the new one from it (disabled).
thanks Tim; now just thinking H-G, now that we've got the 'real' you back, I've always wanted to know more about the name - was there ever a 'dishonest' Gaza, for instance? :stir Not sure if you're aware, but one of the guys [Muscles] does a fine job of interviewing members to find out a little more about them, and 'what makes them tick' so to speak; beware - you might be a possible future candidate!! A

Was there ever a "dishonest" Gaza ? Well it all started about 25 years ago when Gaza decided to run a footy tipping comp at work and wanted to ensure everything was above board. To encourage people to part with their hard earned money, I named it "Honest Gaza's" footy tipping comp. The name has stuck ever since......and yes, I did win that comp  But I realise the importance of such a badge and do place integrity extremely high on my traits.
Thanks for the warm welcome and yes, it appears Shape Shifter will at least have some moral female support. I'm only just starting out on my coffee exploring journey, but there is something intriguing about it all, and there is much to learn. I've been reading books and asking lots of questions. I even have my own coffee tree in a pot.....and I have about 1/2 cup of green beans harvested from it .... it is more of a conversation piece Learning about roasting is on my to-do list!
AngerManagement introduced me to this Forum, and I'm already getting a very friendly vibe from here. I live on the Gold Coast, and work in the Aviation field at Brisbane Airport, so have to battle Freeway traffic. After driving up and down that road for over 18 years, I am still trying to work out why so many people have to leave for work at 5am????? And yes, I have driven off with my coffee cup on the roof of the car in my half sleep. I consider myself a bit of a novice in the coffee area and I'm trying not to be intimidated by the knowledge out there...and my lack of it . I am keen to learn....reading, asking questions, observing and have done a couple of basic barista type courses. I would like to find out more about roasting my own beans and what's involved, so that's the long term plan. I must also thank AngerManagement for his helpful advice re fixing my Espresso machine (Em6910). I had a few other dramas happening at home and then my coffee machine died...so it was great to get some sensible, down to earth advice. Much appreciated thanks. :thumb:
A warm welcome to Crema forum I am sure that all the members also extend a hand in coffee friendship The more you participate and the more questions you ask the more you will learn KK
female roast, my two favourite words :thumb: Yah for AM Welcome Suzique, nothing to fear from your lack of knowledge, I've only been roasting for about a year and a half, these guys are THE BEST :-* The only disappointing thing!!! Once again you are no where near me, although that's probably lucky for you
Just done a major tidy up on this whole section addeding/splicing a heap of posts to this already monster thread Some interesting reads amongst them to so don't be shy as a newbie and add to the merriment :thumb:
Hi - Thanks for the welcome. I'm a long time coffee lover in Melbourne who makes apps for a living. I run a company called jTribe that is building a free loyalty card service based on the new (unreleased) iOS 6 Passbook from Apple. It's called PassRocket I've joined the forum to help me understand the day to day challenges of running a cafe. If anyone is interested in being part of our pilot, we would appreciate any feedback on passrocket.com
G'day all, Just joined up ... thanks for having me ;D I am in Perth ... been there my whole life mostly. My espresso machine is a Breville Double Boiler BES900 ... paired with the BCG800 smart grinder. Only had this for a couple of weeks but so far I am very happy with it. I used to have a Breville Ikon espresso machine and Sunbeam grinder but they were getting a bit long in the tooth! I also roast my own beans ... using a lightly modified Cornelius popcorn maker. I have just scored a cheap old bread maker and used my birthday Bunnings vouchers to buy a cheap heat gun and am going to set up a Corretto so I can do larger batches ... with the new coffee machine I seem to be drinking much more coffee now than I did before :D Again, thanks for having me ... looking forward to browsing your lovely forums :thumb:

Welcome to Crema Spoony! There are some very active and satisfied BDB owners here so you're in the place to contribute and learn. I love the fact that we all tend to drink much more coffee after significant upgrades and home roasting adventures.... It must taste better than before eh! :thumb:
Hello Again, I think. =) About me and keeping it simple. I'm a muso, a mom, a seriously fanatical baker and cook (self-taught). I love my curries and experiments and love my coffee. Love improvising with my music as well as cooking. Love to get my hands on a vintage Italian lever machine, if only I could afford it.
Hi there Coffee Mama Good to have you on board You will find a couple of classical musicians here to keep you company And I am a good listener of music And of course lots of great cooks with a dedicated thread for those those special recipes KK
Firstly, great site. Found this place while doing a little research on setting up a coffee van and trying to find some real information from real ppl. Seems its a very secretive business to get into. Anyway, for the intro bit, hope you guys don't mind international members! Simon is me,living and working in Dublin, Ireland. My background is in bars, clubs, hotels and cafes mostly so know a fair bit about the industry. Coffee vans aren't exactly a new concept over here but there's a massive gap in the market for good coffee. I'm going down the rout of starting from scratch, old van with new equipment.(cryptic I know but don't wanna give away too much just yet). Decided to go with a duel fuel 2 group machine(mainly gas for the moment) and run everything off deep cycle batteries ie,grinder fridge and lighting. Don't wanna go all stainless in the fit out, one of the biggest problems here is everything looks a little too clinical and uninviting. Hoping to include more wood and fibreglass in the interior side of things. Hoping there's not too much difference in the way things are done, there's only a cpl of thousand miles in the difference. Looking forward to bouncing some ideas around
Welcome to Crema Simon Lots of experienced people with hands on knowledge frequent our membership Also a few threads on the subject to have a read With regards to the fit out you must follow your local council or region as to the health standard requirements or it could become an expensive mistake Start a thread with specific questions and we will see if we can help out KK
Just a quick note to introduce myself, although some may recognize my username from that other Aussie forum. If only us kiwis had a coffee forum... Felt i had to join after following the Londinium lever thread for the past few weeks.I'm a vintage lever fan, and have been lucky enough to restore and use some beautiful old levers over the past few years. Most of them end up sold over to Aussie, doesn't seem to be many vintage lever fans here in New Zealand.Current machine is a Faema Mercurio (1950s), although am in the middle of buying and importing a Faema Urania Velox group. Current grinder is an Elektra Nino, courtesy of a local roaster selling off 5 of these beauties. They truly are a fantastic grinder
Welcome kofekitt, more that a few of us here love our levers and or looking to upgrade :thumb: We tend to be a bit mad at times but its all in good fun. So when are you moving to Queensland :stir
Sounds like a good idea after the wet cold winter we've had
Hi People, So, about me - I'm a 32 year old Sys Admin, who recently got the coffee bug. My current setup is a EM6910 (using VST baskets) +EM0480, though I'm starting to get the urge to upgrade.. Plus an aeropress for when needs must. I've recently started roasting my own coffee (using an icoffee roaster), and have gone through about 15 Kg of beans so far - eagerly awaiting delivery of my most recent beangreen order. Other interests include motorcycles, music, food/cooking and being the IT geek that i am, computers. Been lurking on this forum for a while now so thought it was time i registered and said hi !
Hi Caught the espresso bug while in milan, came home and my first stop was gloria jeans at the airport for an espresso, that was four years ago and foul aftertaste has almost completely subsided. Started with a nespresso at home then after a few weeks picked up a rancilio audrey, whose element died yesterday. :'(

Welcome Jimmy It's great to have you on board Crema Forum KK
Welcome Jimmytb! You'll find lots of help to continue your journey here or even start a thread with Audrey repair. Lots of friendly folks here to help!
Hi, I'm Rob started the 'make your own coffee at home' journey about 6 months ago. have a couple of family members who have been doing it for years and it slowly rubbed off. i am a bit of a 'near enough, good enough' type person so you may think this attitude isn't compatible with coffee making, but as long as i like what i'm making, and i have the basics close, then thats all i worry about. i have a em6910 paired with the BSG. did have the 0480 but found the steps too large between grind settings. other useless info, i'm a printer by trade, working at newstyle in adelaide (printing crema mag no less [sssh]), and i love my fords. i don't expect to be able to contribute too much in a technical sense but i've already enjoyed the reading. i must say, i was attracted here by a member by the name of Anger Management. when i bought my machine my brother sent me a link to a list of things i need to know and that was written by AM.
