Yes , yes and yes to all of the above :rofl: :rofl: Really looking forward to doing the deck. There will be elements of that mega privacy screen with the vertical timber battens too. Labour intensive but I'm not paying myself so who cares, as long as it looks schmick. There is a chance this might get a bit of display pool action too in which case I'll get a kickback from every one sold :thumb:

A few update pics. Filter hooked up and filtering nicely. Concrete slab with post stirrups chemset in position. Posts and bracing looks like a maze and it is but bearers and joists go up tomorrow so a lot of the bracing will go. The water looks bloody amazing and it was so tempting get in but ..... the bioniser hasn't got the copper/silver levels up yet so I'll just have to wait.

A whaty? Just googled it. How much did that cost? I've never heard of it until now. Are they safe etc? Do they really work? Very interested. Father in law has a small pool and and is always complaining about the salt water effecting metal items near the pool. Can you convert an existing pool?

Bioniser kicks ass Lacehim. Yes they work and work really well. Copper and silver kill the crap in the pool. Adjust PH in the normal way with acid. Every so often chuck a bit of hydrogen peroxide in to burn oils and fats from sunscreen etc... off. You can backlush the pool onto the lawn legally. Pure fresh water. Gold. The pool shops poo poo them because they cant sell you anything. Cost of the complete electronic unit was $ 1175 but a smaller more manual type can be had for $ 875. You only need to run them for 3 hours per day as there is no chlorine to be made by a salt cell ( the reason most pools have to run for 8 hrs /day)

The oils get burnt off by adding a oxidiser like hydrogen peroxide or by using a ozone generator and it depends on pool load ( number of people and frequency) Alternatively, bioniser do a unit called the eco oxidiser which manufacturers Hydrogen peroxide using dc current and titanium electrodes. $ 850 for the unit, but you never have to worry about buying / storing / handling dangerous hydrogen peroxide again

It's the snake oil that might cause problems. The web site positively oozes the stuff. Pseudo-scientific claptrap, all spin, no real background. I asked myself,: 'would I buy an ioniser from this man?' Anyway, I will read a bit more about pool sanitising and ionisation. Currently my 60,000 litre pool costs about $25 a month in chemicals so be interesting to compare.

?? Worry ?? .. hydrogen peroxide = chlorine, aka, " bleach" = one of the most common household chemicals. Sure its nasty stuff, but you need it to deal with nasty bugs around the house. Im with UNM on the $20 -$25 per month on a 90kL pool using only Chlorine ( ditched the NaCl clorinator ) PS:- If anyone knows of a pool cleaner that can actually deal with big leaves,..rather than just choke on them..i need to know. !

It may work in a similiar manner though. UNM - you got, comparison test coming up. Dont forget to factor in the power running costs to generate your chlorine from your salt cell ( if you use one). You need to open your mind. Just because the pool shop tells you something doesn't mean that bioniser doesn't work. Its simple chemistry using natural products. It is proven technology, using science. No spin attached. Talk to Jonty about purifying water with ionisers.

Hydrogen peroxide is different to liquid pool chlorine (sodium hypochlorite iirc). Both nasty when concentrated. My pool cleaner works extremely well. Not sure she will travel to do yours though:rofl: My pool adviser pays me, not the other way round (I groom his dogs). No salt chlorination for me either. Liquid chlorine and baking soda that's it. I didn't say ionisers don't work, just that I intend to research more. I am not going to change from something that does work unless the alternative is clearly better. That would be truly dumb. You are starting with a new pool. Different rules. One thing though. No matter what you use for sanitation, a cover is wise for many reasons

Cover for sure - not sure whats out there for round pools. Also, mine is only 10 000 lt so managing it is on a different scale to you fellas with ya resort sized pools :D I have a good mate that lives 5 mis away that has run a bioniser from new ( nearly 2 years now) and his pool is pretty bloody good even though he doesnt do any of the recommended tests on time and is not anal with in the slightest. His is also quartzon which messes around with things a bit. See what happens I guess :thumb:

Quick update. The subfloor for the deck is done and I started laying decking today. What a motherfruiter working in the sun is. Did I mention that building a deck around round things sucks balls ? Well it does - so much more work. Anyway, its happening so its all good. The decking is pacific jarrah out of Malaysia or Borneo. Bloody nice timber, cheaper and better than kwila, very dense and heavy. Once the deck is done I then have to wade through the nightmare that is pool fencing. The pool and deck are easy, the connection to the house is the is the problem. If anyone wants to send themselves mental google "QDC Swimming Pool Barriers". Frikken joke and all in lawyer jargon. Oh, BTW, UNM, pool water is absolutely stunning. Low phospahtes, PH perfect, copper levels perfect. Can count the individual 25 mm tiles on the floor from the kitchen whilst making coffee. Bioniser kicks ass !

Lots of oil based primer Brett. The sub floor is made from LVL's ( laminated veneer lumber - just like a hunk of ply wood). The LVL's smash hardwood for price and can be had up to 13 mt in length, perfectly true within 3 days of ordering. Treated H3 too. Durability class 1 decking will be fine with any of the standard decking finishes

Came up nicely I think. It was a pain though but the radius device made marking the boards pretty easy. Then it was just a precession up and down a ladder to cut, route, test fit and fix each board. Good practice for the next one anyway and gives me a idea how much time to allow.

Man, ..i hope you had that pool ready to use this week ! I am sure i would have melted without mine... i even had to switch off the solar to keep the temp below 30 C. Also , i finally replaced my dead "Stroud" 32v pool lights with some modern 12v LED's Hah ! they come with inbuilt multi colour "disco" effect sequence..or any colour you fancy too. ..nice for the Xmas party effects.

Ok, bar paint touch ups ( a lot of them) and a few more coats on the deck its basically ready for its final (and only) inspection from the certifier. I had a bit a drama from a RSOLE jealous neighbour that complained to council saying I was swimming in a unfenced pool. This sent my certifier into orbit and I had to spend 10 minutes on the phone calming the situation down. Once I explained that all temporary barriers were in place and complied, the neighbour is a idiot and I'm waiting for my pool glass to arrive, the crisis was averted :D

Very nice result. Is that SS wire fence really only temporary until a glass one replaces it ?? Living in Sydney with many kms of water frontage , wharfs, etc with no fences at all, and literally millions of visitors running around,.... i will never understand the logic of the strict fencing regs around private backyard pools.
