After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Welcome Ringo! No more verifications mate unless you try to sell us time-shares or something along those lines. :pan P.s forgot to say, check out our sponsors. They're the BEST in the business. I've purchased from every one (anonymously) and their service was above and beyond... Even on small ticket items!
Welcome Ringo! We had a kiwi come to Noosa and start Costa Noosa Roastery years ago he was really good and started it all up here, last I heard he lives between NZ and Croatia now
Hi Ringo C Man probably confused your post with Jevvv ( from NZ ) see a few posts UP May I take a stab and say that you are from Melbourne  KK
hi guys just joined up because i'm becoming a coffee nerd after tasting some fine cups made by my coffee lover girlfriend 2 years ago. Used to drink long blacks with 2 sugars because of the bitterness....so I never gotten into coffees. didnt know a perfectly balanced coffee would have so much flavor and natural sweetness just like a glass of fine red wine (been a wine lover my self). smell, tannins, body etc... I have changed into a sugar less long black man hope i'll gain more knowledge into coffee making here.
Evening all. Part Aussie part Pom here. Born in Aus, grew up in the UK, and been back here 12 years or so. Have moved about a bit in my years here. Started in Melbourne, then went to Cairns, now in Darwin. I used to be at the green place under a different name but got fed up with it and haven't been there for a couple of years. I started my coffee infatuation small with an ex cafe rancilio 26 (I think) 2 group machine, but passed that on to a friend when I moved out of Cairns. I also handed on the roasting setup to the same guy. I then picked up a Bezzera Family lever machine from the 60s or 70s that I found in the UK for silly money and imported that back into Australia. Photos to come in the lever gallery thread. I kind of fell out of love with the whole coffee roasting/ making process when I moved to Darwin. It's not much hotter than Cairns but it's enough to stop me wanting a sit first thing in the morning. However autumn is approaching and there have been a few days when I have recently fancied a coffee in the morning. Roasters up here are few and far between so I need to build up my roasting kit again. I have the bread maker and heat gun organised but need to sort out cooling and temperature reading so I can make sure I am roasting consistently. Anyway after thinking a few of you had written essays I seem to have done the same. So I shall see you in the forums. By the way should tapatalk have an icon for this forum on android? Only it doesn't seem to, to me. All I get is the text when I create a shortcut for this place on my android homepage.
Hi Eggbert, welcome to Crema! The KKTO is probably a little more common here than the corretto, but I'm sure there are more than a few that could help out with any questions you might have. I personally use the food-safe Bunnings bucket with an exhaust fan crammed into it and a metal sieve as my cooling bin. Not sure about the Tapatalk for Android - I don't have an Android phone to test on. Works fine on an iPhone, but I'll give a test when I have a moment.
Welcome eggbert Melbourne is currently giving Darwin a Run for the money in the "too hot to roast" stakes. 30 days at 30+ since the new year making it very hard to roast at midnight when its 31 degrees and stuffy humidity. Roasting in the hot weather is like going to the dentist - not something you look forward to.
Hi All, I can't believe I only just found this forum. Some of you might recognize my username from CS. I noticed the Londinium forum is much much larger then the other site so hopefully that indicates an lively forum. HTB P.S Mods: Perhaps the password restrictions can be relaxed a bit. I know coffee is pretty important but it's not like internet banking.

Hi and welcome HTB It's a pleasure to have you along on the Crema forum FYI - the password restrictions are in place for spammers Once your in and accepted you are free to express your considered opinion So get posting :thumb: KK
Thank you, Admin for such a warm welcome! My name is Finn and I'm coffee lover. That's the major reason why I joined this forum. I hope we, the coffee drinkers have a gala time here by sharing our experiences and feelings with each other. Thanks & Regards, Finn Felton
Welcome HTB, As KK mentions, we get a lot of spammers trying to gain entry. It's easier to head them off at the pass. Anyway, looking forward to your posts! K
Hi everyone, yep new here, but have been a silent observer a few times. Used to own a cafe about 14 years ago, love coffee, love good beans. Owned a Baby Gaggia awhile back, then last two years a Sunbeam em6910. It was a faithful little beast, with no problems at all. Own a Mazzer mini and LOVE it. As I have just sold the 6910, been busy the last week researching the next new baby. Think I've settled on the Nuova Simonelli Musica and about to lock the sale in. Hoping it brings me double the years of happy, fault free brewing.

Hi and welcome to the Crema forum Kazbah May you have rich coffee flowing when you get the new machine KK
Welcome Kazbah, They are a pretty funky looking machine. Are you getting the one with the lights or without? From memory they similar to the Oscar inside, but with a nicer look outside, and an antivac which makes life easier. Post up a piccy when you get it, in the Espresso machines section. Everyone here loves photos! Enjoy the forum and don't be afraid to post.
Hi all, yep another newby here to share my builds and experiences. Just reached retirement age after being a TafeSA lecturer for 34 years, saw the light and took a package, Went into semi retirement, got bored and set up a one man band home maintenance business that has exploded, never been so busy. Been building things all my life with a very comprehensive steel and woodworking workshop, 5 years ago built a wood fired oven, then an outdoor kitchen, purchased a Technica II espresso machine and a month ago a small lpg fired roaster out of an old lpg bottle as I wanted better flavour from roasted beans from a variety of suppliers. Very cheap to build and control with thermocouple control, all under $50. Now about to power the drum/basket leaving the hands for recording the times/temps for future reference. One of the wood fired oven members posted a link to my build and invited me to join this group. I will list the build with photos when privilages are given. Cheers. Neill :thumb:
Hi Neill, Glad you found us, there's plenty of info on here to keep you happy. I look forward to seeing you post. I'm not sure if you are aware of it, but there are DMMs that record temperature and log the data to a computer, for graphing etc. I think the Victor 86B was the one I had, there is various software logging programs out there. That might help you a bit with the consistancy and with the records. By the way, your woodfired oven is amazing! I wish I had the skills to build one like it! I ended up buying a kit that I had installed, and it works very well. Produced by a local company which means I get great support which is a bonus.
