After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Photos from anywhere and everywhere.

  • Camped in Parachilna Gorge, Flinders Ranges, great camping spot. :) Pics not meant to be master pieces, just a record of our trip. DSC_2901_zpshfps7n35.jpg
  • Crap. Hope your girl is ok FC.
  • I reckon Kitty is fine given the head fell off that snake :) Great pic DB I'm relaxing just looking at it!
  • Thanks guys but I'm afraid its hopeless and we are going to lose one very good bitch sometime this afternoon... Dry Bean. Love that photo. Parked under that magnificent old tree... One thing however, have you never heard of "widowmakers..."?

Sorry to hear about your dog A, it hurts losing them to old age, losing one to snake bite must be extremely upsetting. Widow makers, yep know all about em, this time of year in the Flinders trees not under stress and no winds were forecast, so took a chance. ::)
  • Heather took this near a camping spot close to Cleve SA, lovely spot with a walking trail around a reservoir, missy (the lab) loved it, in and out of the water constantly. :)DSC_2970_zps1zu2azyu.jpg

sorry to hear about your pup FC. I'm very attached to my two furbabies and it will devastate me if I lose them.
  • I'm sorry to read about your Doggie FC.  That is most distressing.
  • I have had gravel, bluestones and sticks in the bean cooler with the roasted beans. This one was a bit different. A popcorn no less, in a batch of Kenyan Asali Co-op. Has anyone had one or a few of these in their roasting episodes?
  • I've heard that this is quite common.  A crop is a crop after all!
  • I get a few pieces of popcorn most nights when roasting. It's in one of the 4 Colombians we have. I even see the yellow pieces in the raw coffee and delight in letting them go through the roaster. Half the time, it's fully "popped" and is easily seen and grabbed in the cooling tray - light colored against the brown background. Very enjoyable to munch on at night let me tell you. Some of the time, the corn has not popped, or it's in various stages of being roasted........so I still try to munch on it. Worst is when you then get these undeveloped pieces of corn caught in your teeth and you then crave a toothpick or dental floss but you can't stop.......and subsequently suffer. Alas.......I never seem to learn ..........just leave it alone or throw it in the bin.....nope, I can't help myself.
  • Had a nibble after letting it degas for 15 hours. Nothing special, maybe some corny coffee character... Should have sampled it fresh from the roaster as per normal.cupping procedure. Bugger. [emoji14]
  • Here's a few random pics from a recent trip.. https://vimeo.com/148593367
  • Wonderful stuff Borat!  Gee you do some traveling!
  • Anyone recognise the location?
  • O tu Palermo terra adorato?
  • Nope, much further South, not Europe..

    Lock in Hong Kong Eddie??
  • I think hong kong is chocka block with skyscrapers Brett [emoji3] . I,ll have a guess n say Durban in SA? The Giesens going well. How do you find the time to travel when you have a roastery to look after unless its co owned?
  • Did I mean Bankok?  I reckon you're on the money Mooney!!
  • Gary's pretty close! Yes it was SA - Capetown, Table Mt.  First time there for me and I have to say it's a really nice place.

We can easily knock out a few hundred kg's a day so no need to be permanently wedded to the roaster.  Smaller capacity would have had it running non-stop, but at the moment we're still in the early stages so no need to roast every day of the week ;)
  • Sounds like a good balance of work and travelling. Wasnt sure if that was Cape Town because it was not easily recognizable from the shot inland towards the sea.[emoji3] Enjoyed the guessing game. Looking forward to the next one.
  • A teensy selection of christmas (no...they are not "holiday") pics A couple of very happy little campers, and children's pony trying to get some time off but.....young pup had other ideas.
  • Great stuff A!!  Lovely clarity in those shots and I'm sure the parents appreciate the high-end gear capturing those memories!
  • Great photos FC. You can clearly tell they are taken with a great camera.
  • Arh yes you is right fellas, its definitely the gear not the foe-tog-ra-feur  ;D
