After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
So please tell... How did you find Crema and the rest of us ?
Saw some posts on (edit)*another forum* that suggested that a bunch of friendly people have defected somewhere else, so I went Googling, and found this place. So, for those who don't know, I have a Grimac Mini and a Gino Rossi at home, and an Aeropress and a Kyocera at the office, as well as a brand new $30 flat burr grinder from Aldi that I am giving a run for it's money with the Aeropress. I see there is a new discussion in the grinders section. I will head on over and see what that is about.
Hi I'm Graham and new to this forum, I see a number of familiar names here. , who have been of assistance to me in my roasting endeavours in the past. I'm a coffee lover (obviously), who roasts and prepares my own coffee for family and friends. In my mid fifties with a 30+ years IT background, with some other stuff thrown in for good measure including the dubious pleasure of having owned a Cafe for 3 years during the recession we were meant to have, with dire consequences. I have been discovering the secrets of roasting on a HottopB for about 18 months. I also ride a Triumph Bonneville (SE) for fun, and play a bit of music occasionally. Graham

Evening Graham, welcome to the friendly forum, looking forward to your contributions. I ride a much modified 2007 Triumph T100 Tuxedo.
Welcome Graham. Noticed a bit of biffo going on over at that other place this afternoon and some of us (myself included) completely understand why you are here. Look forward to enjoying your posts on the coffee journey. mycuppa

It is getting ridiculous isn't it? Can't believe those two are allowed to censor, censure, edit, re-edit, control and delete their way to a controlling and domineering position lording themselves over every other member and/or sponsor. Much warmer and fuzzier here :D
Hi and welcome Graham - Intense Coffee I have had a guitar for over 30 years but don't play, I tried to learn but I was a better listener than a performer So the Hi Fi bug started a few decades ago KK
Welcome and yeah sorry about that, being part of the reason everyone else's comments were deleted ;D Shhhhh let me think it anyway, I so wanted it to stay there longer than it did, bullies deserve to be outed every now and then! I've seriously had enough as much as I want to support Andy but hey they are allowed to get away with it and I've wasted enough time and words on them!
Welcome Graham. Sounds like you are ticking the right boxes: Triumph Bonny, guitar and coffee enthusiast. Next you will be saying you enjoy a drop of scotch single malt. My late Norton-enthusiast mate (who came to grief on a Honda) reckoned anyone who owned a Trumpy must own shares in Loctite.

Hmmm....some irony in that statement isn't there? I thought, after a recent rant from one of the mods, we wouldn't be using this forum to bag CoffeeSnobs. Especially in this section.

Hmm, single malt scotch....now we're talking! - the music and motorbikes doesn't really do it for me

I second this sentiment. I've had my share of blues, but the best way to move on is just ignore, and carry on. Make this forum on its own merits, and not off the back of any other.
Did someone say Single Malt???? Hmmmm.... Oban, Talisker, Laphroig, Lagavulin, Highland Park and perhaps a wee dram o' 25 year old Macallan? brb... running off to get a glass
I am putting my moderators hat on, and request all members new and old to post in a friendly manner on the Crema forum This is my quotable quote for the day There are generally many decent members on most forums We as a group should not paint another collective with one brush Even if that brush paints a certain section the collective gets a few stains as well And a quote from times past So if you dont have anything good to say - bite your tongue and dont say it at all - Regards KK

Only one glass? That's a fair amount of fine scotch to get through, Vinitasse. I think you'll need some help. Never been much of a motorcyclist (have owned 3 small Japanese bikes in my lifetime) but riding a Vincent Black Shadow would be on my bucket list I can feel a new off-topic thread here (or two, or three).

Uh Oh! Another shared interest. One of the best drops I ever had was in a wee place in Los Gatos CA. - a 25 Yr old Scapa, was very surprised to see it there and half the price it should have been. Quite partial to Oban and Jura though.
Have you ever tried a Single Malt from..... Melbourne??????????? Believe it or not but Bakery Hill makes an amazing drop... it ain't cheap but it's local and it's gooood!!! www.bakeryhilldistillery.com.au/

It wasn't me I didn't do it I was drinking great coffees in Melbourne for the day. Time we started limiting the motorbike gang I reckon too ;D Apart from that trying to come down off the caffeine high with a humble triple sized Glenmorangie nightcap.
Thanks for the good wishes everyone, and NO I'm actually not a single malt kinda guy. Ive been through my stages, but lean towards Cognac spirits wise, rather than whisky, although lean very little these days outside of my drug of choice - caffeine. Having lived in a pub in the UK for a period etc takes it's toll, so I tread lighter now. I have no intentions of burning any bridges forums wise, because these things often have a way of working themselves out, and having cut my roasting teeth elsewhere, I have a soft spot for a number of contributers. :-X (Some of course who appear here now). ;D By the way the modern Bonney's no longer need the Locktite to be readily on hand. 8) Graham
hi guys - have been unavoidably out of commission for a few days [things like ash clouds hanging about didn't help]; I'd like to think we get it right most of the time, but just thought I'd mention that I'm always happy to have input about anything on the forum - any issues, please feel free to pm any time. cheers A PS I know I should google it, but what's speleology?
Ha WotB, sounds like our garage too, one side the RX3, the other side the rotary, almost ready to go in ;D His man cave is the lounge room, it's his work room and the wall of boxes is the entry way, anyone seen Mythbusters and their wall of boxes ;D
Nah Sniff, it has a piston engine in it at present, tell you though it's still really quick, we 'tested' it against my crapadoor VT S and it kept up easily, the 13B is almost ready to go in then it'll blow everything else away It'll be the most computerised RX3 out there I think by the time he's finished with it.
in keeping with the nostalgic theme, 808's, RX's, capella's... I remember them at Friday night drags at Calder here in Melb in the 80's, a noise the V8 lovers used to hate with a passion.....everyone knew them collectively as 'egg beaters' or 'rice burners'! I had an 82 SII RX7 for 13 years sold it in show room condition....looking back now, rotaries were ahead of their time.
