After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Well , im pretty sure its the latest version...PID, "styled" coloured side panels , etc... ..and there doesnt seem to be any catches for purchace with a simple "basket" check out against a credit card # ...and only $10 for delivery !! Somedays i really hate how convenient the internet is ! :tearhair: [img][/img]
Teehee  :thumb: Tres drole Conikal I'm sure though you'd agree, That information from 'the man' Is trustworthy agree? Or do you feel by your research Some misinformed approach Then say it straight Do not abate There's none here who'll reproach! Just obviously leave out names of people and businesses unless you've something nice to say! ;)
  • No,..no hidden agenda, just surprised to find the new Pompei available in Au via the Izzo site ( apparently ?). I had seen the comments re Izzo not continuing to sell the m/c here late last year and could understand them not wishing to supply a retailer who has his own ( competing) commercial bean  supplies. But then again, that doesnt explain why they are still happy to supply TC with the "Mk1" version..??   I dont know, but  i am happy to see a very smart machine again available in Oz. :)
  • Is anything ever as it seems? [attachimg=1]
  • From what I could discover the above is correct, not all was as it seemed. Certain people made statements that turned out to be less than accurate. I believe the Pompeii's the same as mine are still freely available with no bean deal required, and to private buyers as well.
  • Someone said something untrue on the internet? Say it ain't so!
  • But in all seriousness, this is an example of why all of us (myself included) should be careful at taking certain types of statements at face value.

Quote of the month! ************************************** Crap photos taken with phone in a hurry (excitement pulsing through carotid artery) with no attempt to properly set up for best effect. It's operational but not yet sorted. No photos of original model to see what any of the missing trim looked like (so we could attempt to make it up). It has passed our Test and Tag test ! When I next bring in the camera I can replace these photos with better ones. Enjoy.
  • That is friggin stunning. An absolute work of art. Got any 'before' shots? Where had it been squirrelled away?
  • Thankyou. The "before" shots are now in there. It will probably take some time but I am looking forward to when we get round to "sorting it" properly for brewing. There are some bits and pieces that we will have to make up by hand (such as some kind of workable group shower).
  • I wouldn't have thought it possible to bring it back to that sort of luster.
  • The body was only rechromed on the understanding it could self destruct and there would be no responsibility taken by the chromer. Its very thin, no attempt was made to rectify imperfections (such as the dent in the front) etc., and we were all relieved when it came back as it is. Not all has been done, the valves were polished and still have the patina of age on including the cover over the top of the group, but I have never been a fan of restoring stuff to better condition than was originally possible, and I think its good for something like this to look likes it's authentic rather than straight off the production line in china. The imperfections add character and authenicity.... There is no doubt the light in the front really lifts the look (not necessarily in a photo but certainly in the flesh). So there it is! Now to make it work at its best. By the way, that's the 1918 model 5 kilo roaster behind in the restored photos.
  • I was going to ask about the roaster.
  • That is one seriously lovely machine!  You are very very lucky indeed! :)
  • Very nice! Will it be for daily use when fully up and running? Motivates me to get back searching for another project...
  • Awesome FC. If the east coast wasn't either flooded or on fire I could go on my planned road trip to Canberra and see it it person.
  • Thank you for the kind comments. If we are happy with its capability when we are finished sorting it, we may place it in our cafe for limited special use.
  • @Fresh Coffee Wow friggen WOW! When my eye caught that first pic... With the light on... Well I kinda thought..."That is so... 'Doctor Who!'" Then when I scrolled through and saw that electrical control panel thingie... And all those pipes and valves... Well my poor Ol' sci-fi brain went into electrical fusion meltdown... That is definitely Very Super Cool!
  • Truly beautiful, FC.
  • The tears are stinging my eyes!  Just glorious!  How have you done the light in the back?
  • First couple of (phone) shots of the Rancilio N/CL - a Z9 with some interesting flat panels and a stainless steel back panel. I'll take a couple more once batteries are charged for my wife's point & shoot. [attachimg=1][attachimg=2]
  • That's a great looking machine CH!  What are the specs if you don't mind me asking... Any mods?
  • Love that style of machine CH I am so pleased that its up and running for you Many enjoyable coffee shots await  :thumb: KK

Thanks Brett (and KK). The element is specced at 2200W, 240V, though it may be a 1720W version. All I've done is the following: Generic bits: 1) Pull the Procon pump off my Z9 2group and wire a switch and 10A lead onto it (including earthing) 2) Buy stainless steel hose, brass adaptors (this isn't my favourite combination but was the only way to deal with 3/8" inlet valve) 3) Replace stock drain hose (black) with clear hose and new clip, so I can see & avoid waste water buildup 4) Buy 25L and 12L tanks for intake/waste water. 5) New Teflon tape around all brass fittings. Negatives: 6) Disconnected auto-fill (haven't had a chance to test it out, but it trips under unknown circumstances) 7) Some paintwork is faded - thinking about fixing this in the long term, but this is rare enough that I don't know what 'originals' there were. Work: Replaced shower screen, added spacers and new gasket - sadly this is still locking round too far even after three spacers, so I'm not that trusting of coffeeparts gaskets at the moment. Restored original mercury tilt switches to operating condition Checked wiring point-to-point and replaced just a couple of under-sized wired with over-gauge (full re-wire to come). Checked for boiler taint and found steam wand section only was tainty - stripped and rebuilt steam arm. Re-wired power lamp (broken shaft, so currently not screwed into the front panel) Mods: Swapped to naked portafilter & 22g VST. Plans: Longer term I'll be plumbing it into the mains water if the landlord approves, and filtering in-line instead of by jug. I'm delighted with the cup profile, but curious as to the temperature and pressure curves and want to see if I can influence the volume through the lever on the initial pull. I'm keen to keep this as close to 'original' as possible - you'll see from the next lot of pictures that I put up that it's not the standard Z9 1gr in terms of panelling or a few other things, and it seems to be one of two on the internet - the other one is in Greece.
  • Fantastic CH.  I know that folk are tempted to restore their machines and panel work past new quality but I really like the nostalgia of that machine.  I'd leave it personally and know that you've resurrected a treasure!
  • Agreed. I love particularly seeing the patina of age on old Faema restorations.
  • Feel almost embarrassed to post mine now after seeing some of the others here, but I think she is a sexy 60s/70s example of a club machine. It's a little difficult to part many images using the phone so I reserve the right to come back and post one or two more. 8855_dsc00750.jpg
  • That one doesn't seem to be loading eggbert, but we're most keen to see it!

Will try again when I can get into a proper pc instead of this phone
  • Hi Eggbert and welcome!  I'm sure you'll get plenty of Ooos and Ahhhs from us when the photos load!
  • Oh, this place looks different on the pc compared to tapatalk. Anyway, here goes again. The only problem with it is the stupid milk foam attachment someone has previously added to the machine, and I have been too scared to remove thus far. [attachimg=1] [attachimg=3] [attachimg=2]
