After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
ES 3 Espresso Strietman releases an updated model
Hi, recently (Xmas 2013) Wouter Strietman released an updated version of his Manual Espresso Machine and so the ES 2 has been upgraded to the ES 3.
The machine remains at heart, a simple kettle design and a manual lever extraction.
From my uneducated perspective it appears to be a modern take on the Caraval, in terms of operation- although I understand the ES 3 has it's own design at heart, in relation to the piston assembly and operation/extraction.
Anyway, I have been trying to find user reviews of this machine and whilst there are a couple of videos 'floating around'. I am struggling to find meaningful third-party independent reviews of well... 'Making coffee using the ES 3'
There have been glimpses of the machine on the forum here, but I would like to invite owners of current and past models to share their thoughts/experiences...
Edit: It might not be clear from the pic below, but the machine plugs into mains power and the 'kettle' has an adjustable dial to set the desired extraction temperature. So it heats the water, to the pre-set temp, but does not do a 'blind boil', as such. You lift the lever for a pre-heat flush, fit the dosed group handle, pre-infuse and extract your shot.
