After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Photos from anywhere and everywhere.

  • A triumphant photo... Huzzah!
  • Here's a picture of a big lump of fossil wood that I've just finished polishing.  Specimen is western Queensland-ish.... iPhonograph until I get some time in the studio.

Morning Brett, Nice looking piece of wood, how did you polish it, Vibrolap or similar?

That piece of petrified wood has potential to be part of an audio system rebuild KK

Thanks guys.  The wood was polished on the vibrolap starting at 220 grit and finishing with tin oxide on linoleum.  The shine is like a mirror... I'm chuffed because with petrified wood you don't really know how it will come up until you try. Now I'm off to C-man's Island!!

  • Very nice Koffee  :).
  • Here's a pic of an old miners cottage out at Moonta Mines, about a kilometer from home. Lots of photo ops around here, I really should get out and do more. :-[
  • Couldn't help it. Here's a few pics of my little furbabies. Both English staffs. My blue boy is a champion breed. Cheeky little buggers.
  • Dogs are great mates GK, we've had one most of our lives, currently a female Lab. :)

They are great. Couldn't imagine life without dogs.
  • I love the old miners cottages Db  :).
  • Great pics guys!! I love your contrasty colours and textures DB.  Very evocative!
  • I just saw the Staffy pics, they are beautiful GeekKopi :).

Poor Ricky. Great looking bully he was. Nice and solid. Was it just old age? How old is Roxi? My blue boy "Royalife Gabriel Sylar" turned 2 couple weeks back and Teejay (red) is 2 and a half. Yes he has a poshy name and I named him after a character on the TV show Heroes (if anyone watched it)
  • He wasn't old really, GeekKopi, he was not quite 8. He was a big solid boy and he went downhill quickly, in a  matter of around 3 weeks. We took him to the vet and he had lymphoma, they put him to sleep then and there. Roxi is 5, she is my older sons shadow  ^-^. We had a chance of a blue Staffy not long after Rocky went but we both thought it a bit soon. I sort of regret not getting him now. Your babies are still very young. Are yours smart? Roxi is about as thick as they come  ;D.
  • Breaks your heart when you lose a much loved family member Sue, particularly under the circumstances you describe, very sad. We lost a dog to old age about 5 years ago, 16 years old, had to have her put down. :(
  • It sure does Db, it was 25 weeks ago today, I still count down the weeks so I guess that says something. We lost our Misty around 4 years ago, she was old, she was a Bully X Staffy and almost made 16 years of age.

sorry to hear that Sue. That's devastating. My two are so attached to me as am I to them. Yes they are very smart. Teejay (the red girl) is extremely smart. She graduated 6 levels of obedience training where the last 2 levels was all off leash work. I think she's too smart for her own good and manipulates me. For Sylar I took him but he's so active the trainers said I'll need to Desex him so he calms down. I never did and trained him myself as much as I can. He will slowdown eventually but I love him this way. He's very smart too and listens and obeys me like I'm a drill sergeant but it's harder work with him (boys right). I am planning to breed him and be very selective of the bitches and their kennels they come from. Both sides of his bloodline there are champions. I got him from my cousins Kennel up in the Gold Coast. He breeds champion staffs. If you are looking I can pass his details on to you.
  • Maybe Roxi is really secretly smart then and I am the dumb one  ^-^. I might grab the details from you, we are not currently looking but maybe one day. Thank you :).
