After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

I'm new here...

Warm welcome the the Crema forum MPW We are all in one way or another drawn to the romance of lever machines To late for me - the lever is ordered and paid for KK
  • Welcome MPV. Curiosity, where is Nulla Vale? I work in a restaurant too, and it certainly is time for a career change for this middle age spread.  ::)
  • Welcome MPW!  Lots of lever aficionadi around these parts (I'm an exception) so you've come to the right place!
  • Love the levers, pulled about 120 shots on my 3 group Izzo lever today and over 100 yesterday :) Welcome along.
  • And unfortunately 'Lever Lunacy' is contagious - my first symptoms have just arrived in the form of a Caravel although I'm resisting by just admiring the design elegance so far. Welcome MPW

Hi Paranomia, I'm sure that MPW would love some pictures pictures pictures and given that these little Caravels are supposed to pull fantastic shots some notes notes notes would be great also.  Welcome to the fun MPW!
  • LOL can only be one person with that name, glad you found us :)
  • Welcome along  :) Machine is still on in the shed if your back at work from 10-3'ish and want to come and have a look or play.
  • Gidday folks, I tried this a few days ago and although I know there is a delay on first posts, it seems it didn't work? So, second attempt. Thanks for the guidance to this forum SS. Like that other former well known (Big) Kev, I'm excited  I guess my journey into serious coffee began about 12 years ago when I was being educated in bodywork, (Human, not cars) where a Saeco Via Venezia was available for the coffee breaks. I started using a stovetop and plunger before (and after) buying my own VV in 2002. Had fun and games (now known as learning experience) with it until moving on to an Isomac Venus in 2009 and then, with an attack of upgrade-itis, got my current Expobar Minore III. During these times I did courses with one or two well known coffee identities in the Newcastle and Hunter region. My first (decent) grinder purchase was an Ascaso I mini, then the BCG800 and just weeks ago invested in a beaut Mazzer Mini. The thing is, being passionate about coffee, I still have them all along with one or two hand grinders for my on the road Aeropress. I also have not often used Belgium Royal balance/vacuum coffee maker. Roasting for two+ years with a Behmor 1600. I currently work as a remedial massage and stretch therapist after (too) many years as a tradie and supervisor in the metal/construction industry. Now enjoying my work, my coffee, my friends and importantly, breathing. That's it in a (rather large) nutshell folks. Looking forward to the journey. Kev.
  • Welcome Kev to the Crema coffee forum I am an ex Novocastrian with family still living there So it's very possible that I may bump into you there one day when I next visit  KK
  • Hiya everyone, Many of you will know me from coffee snobs. I didn't even know about this place until I saw Greg Pullman on the Train Saturday and he told me about you all. Sooooo it's all his fault I am here  :thumb: So a quick recap of what I have been up to the last couple of years I haven't been on any coffee forums. Work. Yep. I am gainfully employed at a major public hospital as a Registered Nurse so I am working 3-4 shifts a week, mostly weekends. It's a great job and I really enjoy it as I get to choose my shifts and work all over the hospital, mostly in Emergency when the rotten ICU staff aren't sent there  :pan It's nice to see all the familiar faces and I will get off now to do some catching up and  :stir
  • Surely no  :stir would take place. Welcome along  :)
  • Quick off the mark Lucinda! :) Welcome
  • G'day All Well I came across this forum while researching for grinders........ Okay a bit about myself: 1. Dont hold it against me, I own a Breville 800 machine (5yrs old) to establish if we would warrant a machine in the house  ::) We do about 20-25 coffees a week on it...... 2. Decided to take the plunge and now go for DB unit (Alex is high on the list), with something doserless (Jolly -E\M4D or Kony-E\M7D). It's a project and looking to purchase a complete package in April\May without the need to upgrade. 3.In regards to a crust, I am an operational quality coordinator for a multinational pharma company in the seaside village of Port Fairy. 4. Coffee journey just taking off to the next level really............... But I have in my stash already 12 ACF cups, digipure 9000s filtration, motto jugs, tamper.......... Just trying to spread the coins out so the 'chief' doesn't notice  ;) Cheers Jonty
  • Thanks Tim for your time tonight....  Didn't realise what the time was and noticed two missed calls on the mobile  ::)  WIFE, she was   At least  I had 30min to work out what to say when I got home  All is sweet and I think she is over my dribble about coffee this and coffee that....... Cheers Jonty
  • G'Day Jonty, welcome to the forum. :)
  • Hi Lucinda, good to see you here, not the first stirrer wev
  • No worries at all. Feel free to blame me for delaying you I have a thick skin and am used to being blamed for leading people astray  ;D Must arrange a small session with you and a couple of others from Portland sometime in Feb when we all have time to roast and play with some toys properly.

Welcome Matt.  I've already met you in another thread: great to see you posting and contributing right from the get go!  The more the merrier; which, looks spelled incorrectly.  We have some great sponsors here so why not check out their offerings also while you're here.  I haven't yet been disappointed in fact, every one of these guys that I've bought from have gone the extra mile despite having the best prices and product!  Welcome Matt and get into it! Edit: just noticed that you have a store.. colour me embarrassed!  Edit Edit: I do love our sponsors here but and I've spent a pretty penny with some of them.

  • Hi, and nice to find this friendly forum. A bit about me. I'm still quite new to home roasting. Kicked off a bit over a year ago after sampling some of Ministry Grounds roasts, and wanting to do it myself. A long time home brewer and distiller, ( strictly aromatherapy of course), the mad scientist in me couldn't wait to see what I could turn to toast. Most of it has turned out to be quite palatable actually, and certainly good enough to encourage further discovery. I enjoy travelling, and learning about what others can do. Looking forward to making any contributions I can to this community.
  • Welcome RnB  :thumb: You may have found a home away from home in the Crema forum KK
  • thanks, KK. I'm keen to learn more about your very own roaster. :lamp: RnB

Generous and thoughtful too might I add!  Im lucky enough to have met KK on a number of occaisions and have experienced his generosity first hand!  You've come to the right place R&B... welcome!
  • Thank you. You are all very kind. I'm suffering withdrawals at the moment. My main machine has been in hospital since Dec 21, awaiting an element replacement. The machine importer ceased supporting the product, so a very sympathetic gentleman in Melb has hand forged one for me. To try and bridge the gap, I picked up an old Boema single group from a cafe (where I should have left it). Had it re-wired and replaced an element but haven't extracted a bean yet. I've sourced a Grimac laUno volumetric 2nd hand from a girl in Perth. It's currently in transit. Getting by on a vintage AMA Milano, AeroPress, syphon, and a Breville Ikon. And now my San Remo grinder has hit the wall. Give me a break.  R&B Of course I can do without coffee.
  • I am pleased to have found this forum and have enjoyed scanning the information in the various threads. In the past I probably drank too much coffee and the quality left a lot to be desired but as the coffee journey has progressed the knowledge base has grown. The quantity of coffee consumed has reduced and the quality of coffee has improved. I am lucky enough to be able to enjoy the excellent caf
